It seems reasonable to believe that the occultic Swiss authorities are merely stalling for time while they find excuses for not proceeding, the prevailing climate of opinion making life of late a tad more difficult for them.

This is IOC home territory. If law enforcement can act on the criminal complaint, IMHO, it sets a precedent that the IOC and sports federations will not like.

I will be amazed if the complaints don't die just like Wonderboy's criminal investigation. They shouldn't die, but this is big-money politics.

If The UCI gets done it will set a dangerous precedent that will leave FIFA and IOC open to similar.

Too many in Swisslaunderlingland make a living out of these sporting federations to let this get traction.

These federations are in Switzerland for the very reason to remain untouchable.

I hope Kimmage's action is the 1st domino to take them all down.

I feel really ****ing angry and what has turned out. Something which Lesli, Andy and myself started in good faith, has now come to this

I was notified last night. And it's just disillusioning that humans, even in these circumstances, behave in this manner.
I am also drawn to the line stating 'some people wanted to turn it into an attack fund.' If that line there doesn't tell you the reality...

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/has-the-paul-kimmage-defense-fund-disappeared

I can also wade into something. I also know for a fact that Kimmage has no access to this fund.

Before people start throwing stones at him. I will ****ing fight anyone who says anything against him on this.

After reading that, I still have no idea what's going on.

Same here.

The two articles I've read may well be full of hints but I'm not and never have been close enough to this to know the score.

Neither party is actually talking, probably because their lawyers told them to stay silent.

Kimmage is probably mortified.

It seems pretty clear to me, people donated with the intention of their dollars ending up with Kimmage. That has not yet happened.

I didn't contribute but I'd be pretty peeved if money I thought I was sending to Paul was actually subject to the decision making of some other guy.

Looks like there was a tax liability or something?

More should have already been said about this. It's all a bit clandestine.

Fund was a 'defence' fund......not a fund to be used selectively by anyone one else for any other purpose including Kimmage. If it is no longer needed it should be returned to the contributors pro-rated to what remains.

Be interested to see how cyclismas cover this story.

Probably something with "@UCI_Overdrawn" in the title.

Seriously though, I dislike CN and CW making hay out of this. I dislike the lack of clarity. Most of all, I dislike the idea of Kimmage left in the cold.

The question is, is the money still there?

Edit: meh didn't read the CW article, but still Lesli seems to think it is gone..

This starts making a bit more sense when you combine CN's story with this:
http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/latest/538180/questions-over-paul-kimmage-defence-fund.html

Now that makes sense. The CN story is a mess.

And yes, there is a real tax liability. I have friends who ran into the same problem in a different situation. *Someone* has to pay taxes on the funds. That part, on the face of it, is true. It seems they did not go backwards and set up a non-profit to limit the tax liability.

Hopefully, the uncertainty fades and accounts are settled by Aaron.
Move what's left over into a non-profit "Paul Kimmage Attack Fund." Absolutely. I'll fund that.

"On Saturday, Paul Kimmage asked Aaron Brown for detailed statements showing the existence of the fund and how much was remaining in the fund. He was not given satisfactory answers by Aaron. Paul then asked his attorney to request that Aaron either provide access to the Kimmage Defense Fund or transfer the remaining funds into an account under the attorney's care and control. Aaron refused.''

Why would Kimmage want to know that?

If your name was attached to a publicly donated fund which had questions over the accounting, wouldn't you want clarification? If I was in his shoes I would.

Who would have informed him there being questions over the accounting when no one but one had actual access to the account?
