Looks like the AFLD took all the hair test samples from the front!:p

Back to kits. Bianchi from the Coppi era (front pockets and all) are simply (emphasis on simple) beautiful..

RDV's avatar shows another great looking kit.

.....Vele mensen zouden het antwoord aan die vraag willen kennen.:D

ok, ok. I'm kidding of couse. I'm not him. Big, big fan though. This recent quote from my quotes thread might have tipped me off.

Yeah there's some great non-racing quotes about bicycling. Since I grew up on a Bridgestone RB-1......

"Think of bicycles as rideable art that can just about save the world."

The not so secret is out. Thanks for playing along Pietro....jeez;)

That Brouchard Castrorama photo is painful.

Was it he or Rous who post-Festina stated that he was so hooked on Pot Belge around that time, looking back he considered himself a drug addict? If it's Brouchard, I can see how he got there judging from the first photo.

Doesn't de Vlaminck still ride like 100km a day? He and Andy Hampsten are the two guys you look at today and they look like they could have raced another decade they stayed so fit.

Heh:rolleyes: I believe it was Brochard that stated that. Didier was more new school(EPO), if you want to call it that, when it came to doping.

Roger still takes on local youngsters on out on training rides before a Kermesse. I think Moser still rides a bit. Eddy got back into a cycling routine several years ago. Remember how big he got? He's got a wicked hankering for Belgian beer, frites, Coca-Cola, and cake too.
Check out Roger. Dapper, and fit as ever at 62!

Yep, that's me.:) My favorite kit also, as the majority of my wins came riding for Brooklyn.

Great pic. Brooklyn would also fare well in the best looking team bike poll.

I just remembered another short lived horrow show.

Tonton Tapis as worn by Stephen Roche in the 1991 season.

The name sounded like a character from Star Wars or something & it looked like there was a man smoking a huge cigar on the shirt. The truth wasnt much better, it was actualluy a man carrying carpet with a huge tache. They were a Belgian carpet manufacturer. Brillant or what. Hopefully somebody can find a picture of this one for me.

Another clasic shirt this one and another Belgian one, La William-Duvel from 91as well I think.

Having lived in Belgium, I can honestly say this is the most stereotypical Belgium team sponsor ever. La William are a mayonaise supplier and Duvel is a potent 8% but very nice beer. Belgian cuisine wrapped up in one team, they had pictures of the attractive Duvel galsses complete with beer on the shirts. Nice.

Thats the one Roger, thanks.

BTW, do you still have those fabulous sideburns!!!

I had to shave them off, due to them being aerodynamically incorrect. We did some wind tunnel testing on them, and Steve Hed deemed them a hindrance.;)

No sale on the Kraftwerk jersey Roger. Ask again in another few months if the economy continues to tank.

DV does look really fit at 62. Great photo. Yes, I had heard that Moser still rides all the time too, including rides up the Stelvio each year.

While he's only 40, the guy that really takes the "fittest retiree" award of course is Laurent Jalabert, who just finished an incredible 12th overall in the Nice Ironman Triathlon. 9:14!!!
154449000-L.jpg

Riding the 112 mile bike section in an amazing 4:45, he passed up over 700 other riders! At last year's Hawaii Ironman he passed up over 1000 riders!!! And that was on a flat course. Imagine how he'd do if the course was technical!

More Black Shorts

As far as Columbia, Euskatel and others go, a loud, gaudily colored jersey can look great if you just use mostly black shorts. Just look at ONCE. Signed, Mr Blackwell.

Roger, you forgot to mention you were also Directeur Sportif of said Tonton Tapis team. I think a picture of RDV with his sideburns would have been better on the shirt!!

You never saw 'allez allez zimbabwe'?

http://www.vtm.be/allezallezzimbabwe/index_programma_allez_allez_zimbabwe_jg2.htm

He coached youngsters from Zimbabwe for a couple of years and tried to get them ready for the cyclocross season. I don't know if he is still doing that though.

LOL....:D.....I realized after I posted it that it might raise that very question.

That's Nicolas Jalabert checking out Sylvan Calzati's ***.
