I still think it was a questionable call to go for a stage win rather than fully back García's GC hopes. That said, getting a stage win is probably worth more than a small chance of getting top 5 overall.

Do you realise that Jayco has not won a race in Europe since 2022 ? So the team has to go for the win. The team had three riders Campbell, Korevaar and Gaskjenn supporting Garcia in the second group. Garcia can still get a good result if she climbs well in the last four stages.

Baril's GC chances suffered as well. She's of course a worse climber than Lippert, but a top 10 would have been a possibility if she had made the split.
A top 10 is still possible, just unlikely. She's only a couple of minutes adrift, and a fair few above her she's a better climber than. She does well on the inconsistent and mid-length climbs of the north too. It's a tall order but far from out of the realm of possibility. Especially as Lippert also lost time and, although more proven, is also on unknown form coming off injury, so the team are less likely to subsume one rider to another GC-wise.
