Lance wants to confess, because he wont survive life out of the sporting limelight and wants to do the triathlon thing. Being locked and loaded for hawaii IM and not being able compete must have been unbearable.

A confession needs to happen if this it to become possible. But confessing will cost lots of money because everyone will come after his ***, legally speaking. So the confessing will need to make him lots of money. The best option (other than a book-too long) is to go on Opera. It'll make him enough dough to cover the legal bills.

The confession will be a lame soft landing full of half truths and excuses, to warm up the public for the truth to come. The real confession will come later, in a less public areana, to the USADA. What'll be interesting there will be who else he dobs in. He'll have to provide quality new info to get his ban reduced enough for it to be worthwile.

Whilst LAs ethics will always disappoint his ability to survive will never. It'll be potentially entertaining and amusing. But if he plays it right it will be a letdown.

The appearance fee dough will be trivial -- maybe cover a month or two of his legal fees.

I don't see how Lance helps himself. If it's a fluffy interview, he'll become an even greater laughingstock in the popular culture. The press will mock him. I can't imagine a single sponsor returning or a single politician sticking his neck out for him. It certainly won't move Tygart.

So where will this leave Lance? Still banned for life, still sucking for cash.

It is no coincidence that this Oprah "confession" is announced the same day as the lead story on tonight's premier of the new "60 Minutes Sports" is...Lance. I mean, have y'all seen the clips CBS has been airing of Tygart talking about death threats? Powerful stuff. Must-see TV.

And don't forget, the Dallas Morning News, in naming Lance the 2012 "Texan of the Year" (for his impact, NOT for his good works), called him a "steely-eyed liar."

IF he confesses it does not mean he will still be able to race those races he wants to race. At the very least he'll be banned for another while after any confession.

I wonder if the Uniballer is going to go all Tom Cruise and start jumping on the sofa.

Also, maybe a few soft focus shots of the Uniballer with his kids, maybe he can produce another one as well.

The other shows should line up anyone from the Reasoned Decision to be on their show for the review and or counter points.

David Letterman: Floyd Landis
Jimmy Kimmel: David Zabrinski
Jay Leno: Levi (boring show, boring guest)
ESPN's ex-Racist Commentator: Ricardo Ricco (not in RD but fits in)
...
...
Local Austin News Channel: Kevin Livingston

lol, we are headed in this direction for sure. Currently in the WWF phase and moving to comedy.

I'll wait till he comes on doctor Phil or Jerry Springer.

Really, Oprah?
What a dork.

Will it also be shown on the Comedy Channel?

If you meant Comedy Central, that would be gold. I just had a momentary image of Jon Stewart interviewing him. THAT would be a disembowlement. Remember what he did to Larry King? The idiots on Crossfire? O'Reilly? Chris Wallace?

Armstrong should go on The Daily Show.

I may have to dig deep into my suitcase of courage to watch this mess.
Or I could look in the suitcase of KAOS thread for new KrabKake's posts.
I'll probably opt for the latter.
This Armstrong fiasco gets weirder every day.
Truth IS stranger than fiction.

Yes athletes have the choice of either appealing their bans to CAS or going on Oprah.

A confession doesn't bring a reduced ban. Information does.

I think the fact that he refused to take part in the process in any way means that any information provided now would yield no reduction in his ban.

Which points to a confession to try to regenerate lieStrong and his Cancer Jesus income. So sounds like he will go to town on his poor upbring and cancer.

A point missed by USADA originally, he's still finding options

A confession on Oprah will not get his sanction lifted. With full and complete cooperation with USADA he may be able to get his sanction reduced, but it will take COMPLETE cooperation and then some time before that would happen. USADA made an example out of him, and rightfully so, and there was such a bitter battle during the USADA-Armstrong proceedings that it will take a LOT of groveling from Armstrong before USADA gives him an inch.

I expect USADA to leave him high and dry regardless. Sets the table for any future action: if you co-operate fully, yes you will lose your results but a slap on the wrist suspension means you can sneak back to ride for Garmin. If you pull a Lance and attack the system, you lose all your results anyway and get a lifetime ban. Spill your guts on Oprah months later, tough tits, no givesies backsies.

I can just imagine Oprah asking Armstrong the tough questions:

How do you guys keep track of all those gears on your Schwinn Varsity 10 speed bikes?

Does your one ball ever get stuck on the wrong side of the saddle?

Tell me about EPO? Is that left of the G spot?

The mind boggles...................................

Is there a way to contact Oprah or her "team." It is a woman oriented show. Someone really needs to get information to her about Armstrong spreading lies about prostitution about a female employee when she talked to the wrong journalist. Let's see what Oprah's followers think about that.

Comment politely and you may even get a reply as some have done.

Fun bags on the comments over there at the OWN!

Ms. Winfrey, thank you for giving Lance the opportunity to tell HIS story. I know that you will ask the tough questions that apparently everyone wants to know. I am not quick to judge his actions for I have not walked in his shoes. He will have to live with the facts of HIS true actions, however I am curious as to what he will have to say. If the facts are as they have been presented to the public then that is a cross Lance will have to bear but no matter who we are or become, we all fall short. Deception is never justifiable and there is always a price we must pay for misdeeds. A fall from grace may prove to be a lesson that Lance can truly learn from and guide him on a different path. He will have to live with his actions for the rest of his life. The truth is always revealed!
I heard on CNN today that you were doing this in order to boost ratings for OWN (because it was failing) and I found that comment to be very comical.( Is that what television is about, boosting ratings). Keep up the good work because I'm enjoying the programming and look forward to the growth of the network
