My wife and I are trying to decide what to have for dinner whilst watching Oprah and Lancey-boy. The best we can come up with is that it would appropriate to eat crow, or perhaps some clenbuterol-laced Portugese beef. Neither of these is tempting. But we still want to eat something appropriate. Any suggestions?

Winky, I'm thinking roadkill, maybe racoon, with extra strong Tabasco "sauce" (as in "on the sauce").

Suitable metaphor for what happened to some folks' careers in cycling as a result of Lancey. Hope he's feeling suitably....

Foxxy, it's not live for anybody on her site. It was false advertising. Only on her TV network, called OWN.

See here: http://www.oprah.com/own_tv/onc/lance-armstrong-one.html

It's just play a 15 sec. ad. People are complaining on the site.

But how you know that she isn´t showing it "live"? I thought it will be tomorrow.
P.S.: If it´s coming... what will be the german time? Anybody out there from europe knowing this?
Thanks in advance

You do realize its not being shown 'live' until later today?

In the bit piece you linked to it says:
"The interview will be simultaneously streamed LIVE worldwide both nights on Oprah.com."

Foxxy, Discovery Channel in Germany is apparently carrying it live at 3 a.m. Friday. I have also heard that DMAX will re-broadcast it Friday night at 7:30.

No doubt there will also be (illegal) live streams running. CN is doing a live report on it and probably others will as well, at least on Facebook and Twitter.

Thanks Susan, but...

... now the confusion is complete since Doc Maserati joined. ;)

So let´s summarize:
1.) The broadcast is tomorrow (Thursday in the USA, which at the same time in germany is early Friday morning)
2.) With "live" i think everybody agrees it´s meant "live" tomorrow from the broadcasting channel OWN.
Of course it´s not a real live interview since it was recorded on monday in Austin.
3.) Now the serious part. It was said that the interview will be seen "live" (description of "live" see 2.)) in the internet. So i guess there is no need for "illegal" streams. Is that correct? Or will it be only seen at the cable TV´s in the USA?

@ Susan: Unlucky i am, i don´t have Sky (= including Disco. Channel). I am more into american football, so i save some bucks since Sky brings only soccer, and thus i have no need* to have this TV-Channel...

* ok, ok, tomorrow it would have been nice to have it. ;)

I mean it would be stupid by OWN if they don´t bring it world wide "live" in the internet. If they got any financial problems over there (i was reading some rumours here in the clinic), they´ll have solved them tomorrow. I guess it will be a higher world wide audience than the superbowl. I guess the price for the ads is monstrous.
OTOH, if it´s not "live" all over the world, the companies who invested into this broadcast tomorrow must feel really pranked.
Just my 2 1/4 cents...

I don't have the Sky package either, not to mention that the thought of me getting up at 3 a.m. to watch something on TV is bizarre .... I'm old and sick, I need my sleep.

Susan

I am afraid it will make me feel sick. I am sure it will get replayed over and over on the internet at some point. A full transcript would be nice for accuracy and reference.

As the idiom goes: It's not worth losing sleep over.

Is this going to be anything more than 1 minute of Lance saying he doped and the rest of them him telling us how he is still a good person?

I saw her interview with George W. Bush, and she didn't ask one question about Guantanamo, although she was more critical about hurricane Katrina.

LA has manipulated the media for years, and he will just continue to do so. I will just read a summary afterwards; I don't want to watch that face for 2 1/2 hours.

Foxy, go through all your channels of what's playing at 3:00 am... that's how i found it -- playing it on the Discovery Channel here too (Belgium) and i don't subscribe to Sky either... maybe it's bundled in another package and you didn't know about it?

(OT -- great fun to know you, too, are watching the games on ESPN America -- cool! maybe we ought to have a SuperBowl in Amsterdam after all?)

You can only go on what Oprah said. That she and her team read all the books, and came with 112 questions to ask. She admits she did not get to the end of theat list, but that hey asked almost all, and they asked and he answered all the important ones - and you get the impression she was surprised by how forthcoming he was.

I think Oprah recognises her entire credibility and future potential hangs on NOT letting him off the hook easily. It would not be Lance of course, without some blatant self promotion. I think Lance must recognise that he too only gets one chance at this. That his only chance for any future is to be sincere and honest for once in his life.

Time will tell. Even the best politicians struggle to use lots of words to say nothing for more than half an hour. This is four times that.

Interesting, how something that should be so grand, is already ancient news by the time it airs. The jokes are all made, the move already a failure to both Oprah and Lance. Some millions may have slushed around, but that can't heal these self-inflicted wounds. Even Time will have a hard time fixing this.

I don't think I'll watch the torrents that will surface within hours of the interview. I've not been sick since visiting a certain spare rib place some 6 years ago. Not looking forward to going "there" again, unless it could be all over the subject in question.

It'll be Youtubed almost immediately after it's aired. No need to stay up or set your clocks to watch it.

Anyone read the book 'The 48 laws of power' it was reported in the British press that Armstrong is a big fan of the book. There's lots of chapters that sum Armstrong up nicely, however I think they were a few he didn't take enough notice of this being one of them 'Do not go past the mark you aimed for, in victory - learn when to stop'

Foxxy, looks like I'm definitely a dubious source of info. after getting the day wrong, but Oprah network says it will stream it live on their site:

http://www.oprah.com/own_tv/onc/lance-armstrong-one.html

Just check here at 9pm EST, or before because the site might be overloaded with steroid users. :)

I sort of want to watch it and be live on Twitter, but what if it makes me cringe so much I can't stand it. I'll have stayed up for nothing.

Discovery also have a programme at 8pm UK time on Friday evening. It's not clear if this is part 2 or a repeat of part 1. I can't find a listing for early Saturday morning
