I shall ignore the flame - but if you actually took the trouble to read what I write you would know that my biggest criticism of the sanctions.was over leniency to such as Hincapie - not over harsh.

I fail to understand why you all seem to support such a serial lifetime conspiring cheat, who came clean when already caught just to save his own skin, and why you and Tygart allow them the Nazi defence which has never been allowed in criminal law ie "diminished responsibility because the boss told me too and the boss is nasty". As many clean riders have pointed out, they made their own choices. They could have walked away, but chose to live a life of luxury as part of the conspiracy scam. Read Nicole Cookes retirement statement to see how that looks to a clean rider.

For all that a ratio of sentence of 20-1 for LA to GH is hopelessly out of proportion too. GH was clearly supplying drugs on occasion too. If LA manages to out the corrupt moneymen and corruption in UCI he deserves reduction to a couple if years too. I am for equity not vengeance.

As regards GH Why do you all like dopers so much? Just because they rat on their mates when cornered?

As for the one who said Hincapie was allowed to ride TdF to disguise the fact he had ratted. Totally wrong. He had already been told to withdraw from olympics. So it was not a secret. They could have and should have stopped him parading his cheating at he TdF by ordering him to withdraw from it, and failing his withdrawing quietly, they should have publicly done a Rasmussen on him, Tygart In person is responsible for allowing him, to ride, mocking clean riders in the process
Tygart makes mistakes. There is one.

As regards the interview a lot are now saying "split into two"

But In the UK we have seemingly one programme at 2am GMT lasting 1.25 repeated on thursday and friday night?

So with everything happening with all the American cyclists and the entire sport your big beef is..... George Hincapie. With regards to your 20-1 sanction ratio, that doesn't seem unfair to me. armstrong's impact on the sport was well beyond that ratio. armstrong's earnings were beyond that ratio. The magnitude of his offenses are beyond that ratio. Had armstrong cooperated instead of throwing a hissy fit, the ratio would have been unfairly shifted to his favor. That wouldn't seem right, but hey, I'm into equity not vengeance.

I don't have any idea why you're so surprised to find the lack of GH discussion in a "lance on Oprah" thread. Maybe you can go find a Sky or JV thread to talk about him in, makes as much sense.

Oh, and for the record, I agree GH and others shouldn't have been riding in the tour. Usada took charge of the case in February. Sanctions being dished out in six month is rather speedy by cycling standards.

In a healthy environment, it would depend on their ages. It would depend on how it affects them in their daily lives anyway. I have serious doubts he's around to be a parent, or act like a mature one when he appears.

The usual style seems to be to first apologize to those closest to you. For most, that's family. I am genuinely curious whether he'll apologize to his ex wife, her children, the mother of his other two children, his own mother. I think not as I sincerely doubt he understands the damage his actions have done them.

I seem to recall some allegations that the ex-wife was part of the doping scheme? Other than that, he may be smart enough to understand but cold enough not to care. The apology is a means to an end.

For the record they had already been asked to withdraw from olympics so Tygart already knew the score - apparently deposed Hincapie in May since they claimed to have all the others on board before approaching LA in early June.- so it was lomg before the tour.

My suggestion of lighter sanction for LA is totally conditional on his serving up UCi not just the bosses but also for example who was warning USPS of imminent testing? and the role of others for example moneymen like Weisel. That is worth reduction of sanction to say 4 years in my view. it appears Tygart would not go below 8 in Denver , in practice still life, so no incentive for Armstrong to bother, Deals are done when both parties get something.

For what Armstrong did a life ban from the sport seems entirely appropriate ..

he should consider himself fortunate if he got it reduced to 8 years.

8 years, that's an interesting number. Just think, in his final podium speech he could have ratted out the entire system in front of the world right there. He'd be in the same situation with no tour wins and no sponsors, but be able to compete this year having served an 8 year ban.

Nice of you to let everyone know what your real intentions of posting here are:rolleyes:

Why the mods allow your sh*t show to continue is nuts

M-man might have phrased that better, but I think he is merely describing himself as a "Devil's advocate" type of contributor to the forum. Nothing wrong with that, as a forum where everyone is on the "same side" is not as interesting, representative, or even productive from a discussion standpoint. The important thing is that posters from both "sides" are making well-reasoned, fact-based contributions to the discussion.

There's your problem right there.

I had to quote that on my Facebook. Love it.

It's all paying stuff: you have to be hooked into the money-grubber Oprah's network, via your own cable service, IF they carry her channel. It's been live for the last 20 mins.

They are playing games. There is a 15-sec promo clip that loops, and folks are not impressed, LOL.

Anyone know a free stream reproduced elsewhere, as happens with Eurosport races?

Thanks.

((Yup, money talks:http://www.deadline.com/2013/01/ad-...strong-interview-expected-to-sell-out-report/))

And some excellent material follows for the clinicians, ha, ha!....

Colbert reports that Lance is banging Oprah because "“Security around the interview has been tighter than Lance’s pants, so we know absolutely nothing about it”. So since she won’t release details, Colbert decided to wildly speculate what went on, because he has a duty as a journalist to make something up: “Ladies and gentlemen, Lance Armstrong… is banging Oprah.”

"Colbert then rolled out a series of out-of-context quotes that undoubtedly prove the pair’s sexual tryst." It's also been reported that Wiggo was invited for a menage a trois (very French, in the spirit of la Tour) while Jonathan Vaughters watches. Wiggo politely declined after his wife threatened to kill him.

You read it first here, folks. Hard news, first at the clinic. :D

More news....

Perhaps time to lighten up just a tad......

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/lance-armstrong-oprah-night-jokes-183707465.html

"According to the CDC, over 128 million flu vaccines have been administered this year," Jay Leno said on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno." "That's almost as many injections as Lance Armstrong has gotten in his entire career." And Armstrong's confession, he noted, "came as a shock to as many as a dozen people."

Armstrong's sit-down with Winfrey "lasted close to three hours," Jimmy Fallon quipped on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon." "So it's sort of like a regular interview but, you know, on steroids."
--------------------------------------------------------------------

And Jimmy Kimmel joked on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" that "inside sources say [Armstrong] refused to come clean about the doping at first, but then he caved when Oprah promised him a panini maker."

Kimmel then outsourced the rest of his Armstrong zingers to a mock call center in India. "We've done a lot of Lance Armstrong jokes over the years, and it's hard to come up with new stuff," Kimmel said before turning his monologue over to the outsourced material:

"Why did Lance Armstrong go on the Oprah Winfrey show? Because he thought he'd have a ball."

"What is the secret of Lance Armstrong's success? He always stays positive."
----------------------------------------------------------------------

As for "The Daily Show," it weighed in on Armstrong in a segment called "Mr. Fibb."

"I believed in you Lance Armstrong," host Jon Stewart said, feigning outrage. "I shelled out a dollar for a rubber bracelet I have somewhere in my house. ... Well I think we all owe cancer an apology."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The "Late Show With David Letterman," meanwhile, dedicated its "Top Ten" list on Tuesday to the other revelations from Armstrong's Winfrey interview:

10. Artificially enhanced his cycling shorts

9. Still never leaves the house without several vials of clean urine

8. Owns Texas real estate known as "Rancho Decepto"

7. Took steroids to work up the strength to admit taking steroids

6. Once had an inappropriate relationship with an air hose

5. Also has tattoo of Rex Ryan's wife

4. Has given up on making the baseball Hall of Fame

3. United States Postal Service paid him in stamps

2. Started erotic website, "Tour-De-Pants"

1. Admitted to doping just to get on "Oprah"

My wife and I are trying to decide what to have for dinner whilst watching Oprah and Lancey-boy. The best we can come up with is that it would appropriate to eat crow, or perhaps some clenbuterol-laced Portugese beef. Neither of these is tempting. But we still want to eat something appropriate. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance to anybody who is helping out.
