If his ten year old daughter is reading the utter sh@te that is the Mail then he really has failed as a father!

lol.

ok, leaving out The Mail - and any specific news outlet - do you think Armstrong's kids read about their dad on the Internet and feel compelled to defend him b/c they don't believe the hate or does it only confirm for them what they might be beginning to suspect from their own personal experience?

I'm not arguing for it one way or another and have no idea what kind of parent LA is etc etc. I just wonder what it's like for a kid to see their parent hammered online and whether or not they are compelled to jump in usually or slink away.

Didn't LeMond's daughter actually publicly defend him against Watson or LA or something like that?

Unless his kids are stupid, they will figure out that his whole career was a fraud and he is a liar. It would probably be best for them if he did not wait until they drew the obvious conclusions themselves.

I can not imagine anything that Lance has done that his kids would not forgive him for.

Kids, I chased down Simeoni...
We forgive you papa.

Kids, I lied about using EPO back in the 90's...
We forgive you dad.

Kids, I am a real ***....
No **** dad.

Kids, I crushed the hopes and dreams of millions of cancer sufferers...
Dad, get serious please. C'mon.

His oldest child is 12 (according to wiki), so I doubt it, I don't think a kid of that age hangs around sites where they would be likely to encounter a lot of Armstrong animosity. I have no idea how celebrities handle that stuff, but I agree it must be a concern.

That's no ownage. Actually it's a little pitiful. Even if it's true that RR is "obsessed" about him, so what? Even without the baggage, he's one of the greatest cyclists of all time, and used to be a massive celebrity, why wouldn't people be "obsessed" about him?

Do you think Katy Perry or Lionel Messi, or George Clooney give a **** about some random guy saying unfavourable things about them on twitter?

Maybe George Clooney et al is not a narcissistic d-bag who stays up all night steamed that someone somewhere on the Internet said an ill word about them, especially when it is true, then holds a grudge about for years. Or, in other words, maybe Clooney grew out of his immature phase when he was fifteen or sixteen.

How will he tell his kids not to lie? How will he tell them not to cheat? Kids do not take hypocrisy well.

I'm a little annoyed about Armstrong's children being brought into this discussion to be honest. Whatever they think about their father, whatever their opinion turns out to be about his career, is really none of anyone's business imo. Leave his family out of this.

I think it a natural question to wonder what effect someone whose entire career is a fraud and who continues to publicly lie about it will have on those around him. Without specifics of which child is which or how old they are or whatever, how does someone like Armstrong teach his kids to be a good person?

Being the Lance that he is, he'll be a grateful customer for my new good parenting internet filter software. It's called the Bad Parent - Good Parenting filter.
No way to find any news about dad. Many sites blocked, or they'll block when his name is ajoined by certain undesired context. Makes for worriless surfing for child and parent alike.

I don't know.

But I hope he's a decent father, and I hope they love him despite his flaws.

Is this thread a subject for the " clinic "?

Lance is an obsession for some here to the extent that they think they are entitled to " bully " the man's children !

Moderators need to do their job and shut this crappy thread or remove it to a new section , far away from those with a balanced POV in MHO !

Why don't you lighten up? You are obviously worked enough about it to leap to the defense of a doping fraud. We all know what you were attempting: To come up with yet another excuse to give Armstrong a pass for his behavior.

I am now waiting for the, "I have friends who are black--Oops, I mean I am not pro-Armstrong..."

Not all posts are meant to start an argument. My post was hardly a leap to his defense or another excuse for Lance. Don't for a second confuse an attempt to break to cycle of hate as an attempted excuse.

You seem to be locked into this idea that everyone has to be either pro-Armstrong or anti-Armstrong, and that everyone in each camp has to feel the exact same on every aspect of Lance's life. You trying to jump down my throat over a silly GI crack shows how ridiculous you're acting about this.

Take a gander at a mirror once in a while. You are the one who is hopping mad that people are voicing their opinion, so mad that you feel the need to "break the cycle of hate." Uh, yeah, sure. You are the one who felt the need to post an excuse for Armstrong's behavior. Don't get so uptight when people question your dubious excuse.

Kindly point out where people are bullying his children. Pointing out how he ignored his daughter is not bullying his children. It says everything about him, nothing about his daughter.

If Armstrong is upset about it then maybe he should not have doped. Maybe he should stop lying about it. Maybe he should tell his kids the truth. Maybe he (and his homers) should stop blaming others for his moral failings and accept responsibility for what he did.

Unless his kids are stupid, they will figure out that his whole career was a fraud and he is a liar. It would probably be best for them if he did not wait until they drew the obvious conclusions themselves.

One might remember during Comeback 2.0 he made a statement in regards to his son Luke and drugs. He said some of the reason for coming back was to show his kids he was clean all those years and wanted to show Luke who started getting into sports of its clean merits.

All this when he was shifting large amounts of money to buy drugs from Ferrari.

The quote is in the Armstrong Lies thread.

It's one thing to take drugs to win but to offer up your own children as public fodder an a shield is a little sick.

The guy has a major problem and you saw some of it in the video.

Lighten up the mood by talking about diarrhea. You must be a real hit at cocktail parties. "Hey, everyone. Gather 'round. EasyRider is going to lighten the mood with one of his diarrhea stories."

If you are going to post something then don't weasel backwards by trying to say it was a joke when you are called on it.

That goes to show that when questioned about it, he will look his kids straight in the eye and lie to them in the same way he lies to everyone else.

I'd hate to see you at a cocktail party. You'd spend the entire time harassing everyone, at least people can appreciate a joke.

Go back and look at my post again. I said he was on the hunt for a bathroom, don't twist that into a vulgar "diarrhea story."

If you couldn't tell that I was making light of the situation then you're beyond my help.

If you cannot man up to acknowledging the dubiousness of a GI issue that suddenly manifested itself between basking in the adulation of the crowd and getting passed before the line then you are beyond anyone's help. Don't think that you are fooling anyone with this "I was just trying to lighten the mood" BS. Have the cojones to stand by your original post.

Have I been critical enough of Lance to say that I think this is much ado about nothing? I've ignored plenty of people (friends, relatives, teammates, team directors) right after the finish line. With the exception of the last two, it's never intentional. It's loud. You're tired. You're mad you just got beaten. You know someone has beer in a cooler nearby. Plus, I'm sure Lance here's calls of "dad" all the time from kids he doesn't know. Maybe it's not easy to differentiate between those kids and the ones he knows?

Seriously, this is like being mad about Hitler because of his mustache. Sorry to invoke Godwin's Law, but it's true. If you want an example of Lance being Lance, you don't even need to look past this race:

Bullying guys who have the audacity to ask about the lack of drug testing at Panama. Really, this guy has nothing better to do with his time?

That said, his faux outrage over the reaction to this incident is pretty funny. Lance, why do you think so many folks are automatically going to think the worst of you even in a really benign incident? Maybe it's time to look in the mirror, dude.

If that is true, most of them post in the clinic whingeing about those who come down hard with the truth on their 'Dad'

Kids calling Lance Dad, i dont think so. Polish yeah, but somehow i imagine Polish sees Lance as his 'Mummy'.

You have to feel sorry for all the other dads in the race. You really do.
Honest dads. Hard working non-cheating dads. Where were their kids?
Why no cheering from their kids:(

As Lance approached the finish line and the "Dad! Dad! Dad!" rang out, maybe the dad right behind Lance had his spirits lift. "Is that MY Kid?".
But his spirits sank as he spotted a LanceKid cheering with a "#1 DAD" tee shirt.
"You think you're better than me??" he thought and he sprinted past Lance.
Can't blame that guy really.
