Can you mountain bike on that sucker? It could be the Moab of Australia.

No way!!!!!!!! It is very well conserved and the Aboriginals get ****ed when people walk on it. The national Park is being taken over by them so we'll see what happens there!

Andy Schleck would turn up drunk to the stages. That would be funny.

The only people that think it was a bad move are a handful of posters that frequent this site - that should tell you all you need to know. Obviously, its easier to create your own version of reality in fantasy land - facts be damned.

Tourists are estimated to have spent more than $39 million during the first Pro Tour, up from an estimated $17.3 million the year before, and organisers say the number of tourists doubled from 15,100 last year to 36,200 people in 2009.

"We have to say thank you to Lance. His decision to make a worldwide comeback here in Adelaide and South Australia has paid enormous dividends, (and) it has showed it was a smart move." - Premier Mike Rann

And 2010? The SA government have been awfully secretive about their expenditures.

In 2010 Cadel Evans would have had a far greater impact than Armstrong.

The TDU pays business class flights for cyclists and teams along with all expenses. They come for the sun and nothing else. The TDU will never be anything other than a regional race. I think well done Lance for bleeding what he could from the race organisers. They were obviously too stupid to know that he was over the hill and was coming for the cash. With Livestrong picking up the tab on the jet he did very well. Good money if you can get it. Does nothing for Australia but the guys down there are not the brightest sparks.

Keep the fishing expeditions going mate. The fact is your too insignificant for us to give a f**k which is also part of the bogan culture. ;)

If Andy is getting drunk on West End beers, then I propose Scott Socal to fly to Australia to beat some sense into him.

I agree with BroDeal's assessment. Put even half of the amount they paid Armstrong into prize money, plus design the best possible course, and you'll get serious names and competition for overall. Putting that many eggs into one basket by paying LA that much money was extremely short sighted as well. Now they're stuck with the fact he hasn't raced well, and is now embroiled in a massive drug scandal. Now what do they build upon?

Unfortunately here in Australia its a common problem in paying over the hill stars to come out here and make a quick buck , We wasted money on bringing David Beckam out with LA Galxy last year i believe and it was considered a world class event .

Pretty much the people that run big sporting events here are completely *** and think that one big name will make a difference...

Wasn't it also the largest crowd that soccer in Australia has ever seen?

True though Melbournians will go and watch sport a lot in general even without a star name. Having a guy like Tiger Woods just adds to the crowd.

Riders don't want tough course in Tdu, that is the bottom line. They won't come.

Im not sure about the biggest but it was up there , you could say the same bout Lance with the Tour Down Under though. I would prefer to see them offer the money to get Man Utd or Barca out here than LA Galaxy with one over the hill player. What has Beckham coming out here done for Aussie Soccer , it has done nothing but draw a big crowd for one event , the same thing Lance has done for Australian Cycling.

Point in case. Is this the neanderthal Australian way of dealing with conflict?

You guys are so sensitive.

It's called football and no it wasn't Australia. But Brazil at 140,000+.

South America are much more sport loving and mad than Australians.

Slow down and read his post properly and then you might understand what he wrote
