You would, but the majority would want the addict far far far away from their sheltered life. LA is just going to claim Landis is a sad, broke, serial liar. What can Floyd do against this unless he has a truly smoking gun (it must be more proof than what is already known!)? Floyd has no cash, no nike, no livestrong, no spindoctor team.

Landis is going to be tar black within days... I wish him the best.

Well he claims to have recorded his claims in journals form when it actually happened, that would boost his case considerably if true.

There we go again... why this reaction? We all know Bruyneel and LA are dirty rotten cheats. How is this more damning than the Tue, failed tests, the phone conversation?

How will the vested interests of Nike/livestrong/Us cycling be toppled by the words of a known liar?

Do you think I want LA to go free??? I'm just pointing out the obvious. He will walk away shrugging. The possibility that he will go down is incredibly slim.

I'm not saying lalalala with my fingers in my ears... people who are already cheering for the downfall of LA are just doing that...

That's pretty accurate. It may have some affect, but not to the extent that a lot of people here (myself included) would like to see. It may hasten his departure from cycling. At this point that is as good as it gets.

I read this story this morning and got really excited that the Armstrong empire might finally get taken down. Then I went a did a bit of fact checking.

http://www.tissottiming.com/sports/cycling/road/tds/2002/stage_01/ST_E_01_en.htm

Armstrong wasn't in the 2002 Tour de Suisse, and it was the 2001 edition he won.

We know. Floyd is referring to the 2001 edition. Read closer.

I guess it is the end, if you can't even get the lyrics right :D

Also, that song is about raping your mother. I don't think you want to be quoting it ;)

FLandis did not say it happened in 2002. He said Armstrong told him that it happened the year the EPO test was first used in cycling. 2001. That is also the year that Armstrong won the TdS. You misread what Flandis wrote.

By whom? We had whistle blowing before (and yes I hope this one will stick!), so far results have been underwhelming.

There is already someone pointing out an inconsistency in the winning of the TdS which will be exploited by lawyers *NOTE, seems the inconsistency isn't there*.

I believe Landis is telling the truth! I just don't believe this will topple the LA circus. Let's hope I'm wrong.

I just don't think he will be able to beat the cash machine and his lawyers. We are also talking Nike here...

This is a great day.

But should he/we be concerned over the fact that he alledgedly has no evidence regarding Lances doping? Lance (and the UCI?) will bring the hammer down for sure. Why does Flandiseven say that? Has he got a hidden ace? Is it a (the) photo or what?

The trouble is that it is the ramblings of a bitter and broken man. Yes the central theme that Lance doped and that there was massive institutionalised doping at USPS is correct, but this all comes from a man with no credibility left at all. There is a slim chance that this interests a proper journalist enough to do some proper digging but otherwise this will be swept away I'm afraid.

The detail he is giving trumps the credibility issue because reporters will take the ball from here. They have detail. It sounds like A LOT of detail. Those details are what reporters pursue. The questions they ask have to be answered by someone because they will keep asking the questions until they are. If this was just some "Armstrong doped because he told me once on a training ride" then you have a point. As it stands, because of his detail, other people will start to dig, and dig in a significant way.

Fanboy Nation, your river of denial has just dried up.

Let me remind you that:

Andreu: How do they sneak it in, or keep it until needed? I'm sure it's not with the truck in the fridge.

Vaughters: Motorcycle – refrigerated panniers. On the rest day. Floyd has a photo of the thing.

I go to sleep thinking that he will make some general allegations regarding some people, and that this will be a story that will be torn apart by the media machine behind Armstrong/The Hog/et al. I wake up to a nuclear bomb having gone off.

Bravo Floyd. I always said that I have respect for people when they come clean, and this is the kind of detail that cannot be explained away by saying he is just spilling sour grapes.

Wow. What a day.

Where did you find the email text?

I assumed everyone knew that JV did dope, then decided it was a crazy ****ed up system and stopped riding.

The bee sting incident was the turning point or at least very revealing into his mindset...

exactly, Willy. Vaughters got out while he could.

I do not know how Blackcat found it but i posted it (the one blackcat put up here) on a local Aus cycling forum and one of the users there said his friend in Ireland sent him an email earlier in the day with that in it ie. the exact stuff blackcat put up. So the email is getting around pretty quick

With Lance's name on it? Or Bruyneel injecting riders? If not he will be able to deny deny deny.

A panier? heck we were transporting extra special olive oil. Or: That's just some panniers, not connected with us at all. Or: that was all for Floyd, he did that behind our back!

Is the photo date stamped?

I'm so afraid this will be shrugged of :(

Lets hope he has some good dirt to roll with.

This will be very interesting, and very cool to watch!

A little bit of me hopes LA gets off scott free, to save the Tour Down Under!!!
Big implications for the race if he goes down.

Despite the fact that this email seems to be written by a 12-year-old with no sense of spelling or geography, I tend to believe most of what's in it. .../QUOTE]

Pro cyclists aren't noted for their education :D

I remember reading long ago in someone's autobiography (Paul Kimmage, maybe?) about most of his team-mates reading comics and another team-mate, an American (Robert Gaggioli?, but that is really stretching the memory), getting laughed at for reading novels. I may have the names wrong, but the story is correct.

You should not be so happy with Rihs and Hincapie implicated. If Hamilton talks then BMC is history.
I am not. tbh, cyclings law is : armstrong + bruyneel = cycling. when you have those guys out cycling = 0.

I hope Landis holds on to some evidence to be shown later because "the machine" is going to come after him hard. He's going need something substantial to counter the rebuttals to come.

Is the South Australian parliament sitting at the moment?

Perhaps an opponent could use question time to ask "Ranny" about spending millions of state dollars on luring a doper and a fraud to SA.

Next week is when its sits again. Wonder if everyone's favourite drunk, Rob Lucas MLC, will start asking tricky questions about whether the State should get it money back?

No not just the tdu, cycling. Hey the last ever major race could end in aus (WC's):D - And I could be at it!

On a serious note this is what anthony tan has said.
And why spill the beans now? And can you trust someone who upon being found guilty, declared innocence for four years?

I found it in blackcats post. And, while I don't know exactly who he is, I have been around enough to know that he is someone with connections and who knows people, and he has a copy of the email. And he posted it here. And the world of cycling is getting rocked today.

why single out SA - why not every other race and country thats payed a fee for LA's services

Why should the TDU be singled out
