Sigh. Why doesn't any just ask him for a denial about drugs - a straight yes or no.

We need Jeremy Paxman over there.

we are only a half a day into this yet man...don't worry, the bull**** hype machine monster is just waking up...give it a few days...JV will get up there to protect his interests and call landis a sad guy, various folks will follow...the strongarm corporation will rev up its gigantic engines (promise magazine covers for a certain sorta article...woods' people did this many times)...by the end of it, Landis is gonna be festering roadkill...and Lance will be doing a new commercial for amgen...cynical? Sure...but maybe real...makes me sick...

I think JV will be somewhat muted, since his IM exchange with Frankie will likely resurface in the media.

Operation Slime Floyd in full effect

ultimately all of the other emails to myself will come out

Why are you sending emails to other people's sponsors? …that has nothing to do with your conscience.

Wow I come back from Bora Bora and this news is dropped on me. So Landis finally dropped the bomb I hope guys like Hamilton and other former US Postal riders come through I know Vaughters won't because he's still involved in the sport. Reading the letter was interesting the UCI part caught my interest the most.

Floyd is not stupid. Whats been released thus far is not everything. There’s a lot more to come along with hard evidence. LA/GH and co. won’t really know how to defend themselves as outright denial will be followed up with a photo. They can only take George Hincapie’s approach: Which is to say that you have been a honest cyclist. That’s about it.

oxymoron? dichotomy...

True, and an interesting sideline to this story to me is the JV angle...i.e. cycling now...JV has implicated some in doping...tried to be abit honest....but now that a guy on his "clean team" is implicated while leading the TOC watch him throw Landis under the Garmin Bus and back over him repeatedly....just a guess...interesting dilema for JV...but I don't think he wants to go back to hawking real estate or whatever he was doing in Colorado...

..."and by the way, my 2006 positive was false! I doped like champ for four years but THAT test was false!?!"

I don't know who advises him, but he needs new peeps.
Can I ask where did you get that quote from?
I have done a quick search and can't find it.

I know he has denied taking testosterone during the 06 Tour, but admitted taking HGH!

If you consider it strategically, Landis is his own worst enemy. He didn't need any help lol. Even if JB and LA are correctly implicated (frankly I think they are), to do nothing in advance only helps with the innocence perception.

Just pulled the quote below off an article. Seems to be exactly how they are playing it.

"I'd say I am a little surprised but I am not," Armstrong said Thursday. He also said that Landis has been threatening to make the e-mails public "for a long time."

Armstrong also said that Landis' story has changed after two years of claiming his innocence. "It's our word against his word," Armstrong said. "I like our word. We like our credibility."

Armstrong added: "Floyd lost his credibility a long time ago."

How much does that Olympic gold medal mean to him?

Do we really believe you JV? I think there's a lot of truth in what he's saying and he's clearly a man who knows where we should be heading - but he's going to have to give some ground if he wants to stand out from the rest of the omerta.

At some point Armstrong will mention the Lemond call, child abuse ect...being "wanted" for "breaking into a french lab"...obviously his PR team has woken up and on the case...

Of course no one knows who else is going to talk. Just yet anyway. I do hope for Tyler’s sake he takes this time to at least confess, even if he doesn’t want to name names.

I don’t think JV is going to say much. Maybe a blanket confession of sorts, merely saying Floyd is right in that there was widespread use in the day, but the sport is cleaner now, blah, blah.

Apologies to Frankie for saying earlier he could say something. As I think about it, I don’t know what else he could say other than what is out there. He already admitted his guilt already during a time when the omerta was in much more force, and the LA supporters were a much higher percentage.

We also need to look, and think beyond riders. Doctors, trainers, soigners, promoters, officials, etc.

At some point, we gotta admit it isn't gonna take a PR genius to work magic against what Landis has created. I hope this has some legs, but I am not optimistic.

Totally agree - as I said earlier it is time to piss or get off the pot.

Here is JVs reaction on CN - although I believe the quotes were delivered elsewhere last night.

Forget doping suspensions from impotent sanctioning bodies.

These are criminal allegations. Following the Marion Jones angle is exactly right.

Landis alleges systemic illegal distribution of controlled substances. These are felonies in the US. Not only is it a crime to distribute and posses controlled substances, it is also a crime to knowingly enable or support such activities. It's called conspiracy. Also, it's a felony to lie to a federal investigator, or to lie under oath. If Lance Armstrong is implicated, who might the co-conspirators be?

Which members of the LAF board knew about these activities and when did they know it?

What heads of corporations knew about these activities and when did they know it?

What legislators knew about these activities and when did they know it?

What did the President know about these activities and when did he know it?

They are all known to consort with Armstrong, and so they are all possibly implicated by Landis' revelations. They could all be deposed under oath and threat of perjury. This is a career-making opportunity for ambitious investigators, prosecutors, and journalists.

Further, I think this investigation needs to happen in the US, where puritanical laws still allow lives to be thrown away for minor moral indiscretions. The threat of severe punishment is needed to get the conspirators to confess. Convictions and punishment will follow.

Big fan of cycling - I want the truth

Pat McQuaid's comments really bother me.

UCI President Pat McQuaid told the Associated Press that Landis' allegations were "scandalous and mischievous."

"These guys coming out now with things like this from the past is only damaging the sport. If they've any love for the sport they wouldn't do it," he said.

Also, I just heard on NPR that LA stated something along the lines of "it's his word against ours" in regards to Landis' allegations.

I've been interested in professional cycling for over 20 years and know that doping is rampant in the sport, and has been since the beginning of the sport. Why couldn't McQuaid say something like "these are serious allegations and I/we are taking them seriously and will comment when we have had time to look into these allegations." Of course it is damaging to the sport. The topic is doping. What does McQuaid mean by "If they've any love for the sport they wouldn't do it" ???? Wouldn't do what? Speak up against doping or not dope in the first place. Funny comment on his part IMO. :D
