18 years old and beating the Finestre record. I recall it being ridden four times in the Giro (05, 11, 15 and 18) with some of the best climbers of their generations going full gas (Rujano, Simoni, Contador, Scarponi, Nibali, Landa, Aru, Froome etc).

What in the actual hell. And this guy is on *** UAE DEVO
He just beat the record by 1 minute. Riders in the UAE elite beat records in similar climbs by 3 minutes. Nothing to see here.

Beating the old record is not surprising. I mean - no fatigue before climb and the tyres today are so much more efficient on gravel than even 5, never mind 10, 15 years ago.

But "it's not about the bike" bc how the hell does he put 4 min + on ALL the other guys????

Maybe but given his background he has every right to be here, even tho he's a WT rider for a few months now. Will he be a real GC contender in the future? No maybe not, but let's not compare him to fricking Foss. Blackmore is 10 times more talented than that fraud.
Why do you think Foss is a fraud? He was just the best at L'avenir that year against very mediocre competition. No one from the GC guys in that year did anything later. Just a weak crop.

His worlds result was surprising but with very narrow margin on a course that suited him - and jumbo visma had clearly the best set up 2020-2022.
