Hail on the road before Val d'Isere, so it wasn't possible to have a finish there.
It sucks, but they had to stop the race, really dangerous.

Is this clown Prudhomme finally gonna get fired for being a disgrace to cycling now? How many more faces need to happen before he finally has to take his hat?

Certainly he could've found out the road is unassailable 15 minutes earlier and communicate it in time!

Yep, it's completely *** the race. Some riders definitely would have been holding something back, and some would have gone to hard and be coked.

Only correct decision. Sudden thunderstorm. Weather forecast models do not have the computing power to predict this yet. We are likely decades away from predicting mountain storms.

Yes, I am a meteorologist

I really thought that the Steven K group were pacing themselves till the final climb and would have closed the gap a bit.

Look a the pictures from wiggins moto, nobody can credibly argue this cancellation on safety grounds .
It's the timing of it. Announce that Iseran is the stage finish before it is climbed, not after.

Look at the images. It is really bad. They should have said something before. What about if Thomas and Bernal had not attacked? they would have gifted the Tour to Alla.

You are absolutely right, timing was awful

The decision about the time gaps is open for debate.
Neutralizing the race isn't. Those images speak for themselves.

Well, it would have been way more sense if they communicated this at the bottom of Iseran, surely it would not gone this bad within 10 minutes.

Yes, the road conditions worsened in a matter of minutes. Totally unride-able. If the race organizers had not cancelled, it would have been carnage.

Re: Le Tour '19 stage 19: Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne > Tignes 1

Potentially the greatest finish to a TdF for years and we get this.

It's not easy but I'm sure there is a fairer outcome that this. Canceling the whole stage is fairer. Who is to know whether G, Kruiswijk and Buchmann were holding back and Bernal would have blown on the final climb?

It's ruined the whole thing.

Timing of the decision is firing material, obviously you can't ride up there, that isn't the point of the discussion.
Not that the clown needs any more reasons to get fired :D

It went perfectly for Bernal. He would have lost on the flat to the group and clearly Kruijswijk was also holding back with letting de Plus ride.

The neutralization was right but the question is if they couldn't communicate that earlier.
