Lloyd hasn't raced since Pais Vasco so even if he signs BMC probably won't take him to thee Tour.

I think that this profile is just wrong, I've just had a look at that profile and the stage finish a couple of months ago (when the route was anounced), there is no way that last 1,5k had an average gradient of 10%. Schumacher could even have kept yellow that day if he didn't crash.
That last 1.5 km is definitely steep, look at this video (in the background you can already see the climb, to give an idea of its gradient). The final few hundred meters it flattens out a bit.

Matt Lloyd will ride la vuelta if he signs with BMC.

Someone asked or made a statement re Morabito and not riding Suisse the other day - I think it so Matt can sign ride without having to ride for Cadel see where the form is and if he passes he rides le tour-

rumor that I will start now just a hunch

Davis has been told he is riding and the new points system is to go for the green - points mid stage and finish 5 -8 in the sprints is his go, so there will be a helper or 2 for him and the rest for Vino

did he say so or is this your assumption?

because in the last two years the Vuelta profile and point system offered him a big opportunity to contend for the points jersey and he didn't even try to.

He said it in an interview, after the tour of Turkey.

The Queenslander said he was told of his tour berth five months ago. And being told so early has helped him plan his season, which will also include the three-week Vuelta a Espana after the tour as a lead-in to the world title road race in Denmark in September. ''I've known it all year, since last December,'' Davis said before the start of yesterday's second stage of the 1387-kilometre Tour of Turkey.

Asked if his role in the Tour de France from July 2 to 24 would be to try to win a stage or to commit to helping Astana's main overall contender, Kazakhstan's Alexandre Vinokourov, who has a massive voice in team selection, Davis said: ''A stage win and the green jersey.''

Don't see ill Kiserlovsky doing second GT in a row.

Even Kreuziger doing this can backfire both long and short term.

Di Gregorio, Grivko, Vaitkus, Fofonov, Davis, Vino (duh), Kessiakof (maybe if he finds the form).

I am not certain, but I am pretty sure Greg ain't riding. Either way, Schaer is a strong rider and should be good for the ttt.

don't really get how much GVA can get out of the tour.

Better off going to the vuelta fresh where he can be more competitive and gain form for the worlds.

Some 4th/5th places on the uphill sprints in the first week?

damn right he's not riding, he should do some minor stage races and prepare for the Vuelta and WC

He has a good chance in the WC. but was looking forward to seeing him in the tdf, he surely is an exciting rider to watch.

if you have a look at the profile you can see that it is not even possible mathematically, the road is slighty uphill on from Carrefour so we might have an altitude of ~1170-1175m at the 1,5km mark, which makes it 7-8% for the last 1,5km

the roadbook isn't very detailled but I think it's the same finish they do this year:

2008:

BESSE-ET-SAINT-ANASTAISE(D.978-D.149) 7.0 188.5
Carrefour D.149-D.978D.149 2.5 193.0
Carrefour D.978-D.149D.978 2.0 193.5
SUPER-BESSED.149Finish 0.0 195.5

2011:

BESSE-ET-SAINT-ANASTAISE (D36-VC-D978-D36-D149) 6.5 182.5
Carrefour D149-D978 D149 2.5 186.5
Carrefour D978-D149 D978 2.0 187.0
Super-Besse D149 0.0 189.0

The section from Besse-et-Saint-Anastaise is exactly the same, yes. But in 2008 they'd already been climbing for a few kilometres before they reached Besse-et-Saint-Anastaise.

2008:

2011:

Notice how this year they arrive in Besse-et-Saint-Anastaise from the North, after heading southeast from Mont-Dore and avoiding Chambon-sur-Lac. Notice how in the 2008 route they head due east from Mont-Dore, and that the climb starts in St. Diéry, so when they arrive at the base of 2011's climb they're already a few km into the climb.

As a result, in 2008 Super-Besse was categorised 2nd category, while this year it's 3rd category.

I think they did the same climb in 1996, but the run up to the climb was a lot more difficult.

I could assume Samu might one day jump with Gilbert in the first week along with Vino. Samu neeeds the odd yrs to go well however. I would slot in
Hermans for RS
Fischer for Garmin

and just had an utter mental blank for the rest of what i was going to say.

2006 2nd Lombardy 2nd FW.
2007 - 3rd in Vuelta, winning 3 stages. 3rd in Lombardy
2008 Gold.
2009 2nd Vuelta, 2nd Lombardy
2010 4th TDF (denied third by injury)
2011 3rd FW. (GP Mig)

Im not seeing this odd year pattern.

It is an odd year anyway
