who can think of a better person to run the "UCI" than Greg Lemond....my god I actually thing cycling could go nowhere but UP!

+1. It would breathe life back into cycling (and its sponsors) to have Greg Lemond as head of the UCI. That would be great.

Meanwhile, his open letter calling out Fat and Verdruggem for being corrupt ought to ratchet up the heat a bit.

I'm not sure about running the show but he'd be a good board member.

Loved that letter, especially reiterating the corruption. That was an outright taunt.

Hes right about another thing - its got to happen this time. Pat McQuaid must leave UCI and no one here should be content til that happens.

Does anyone know how to start an on-line petition regarding dumping Steve Johnson from USA Cycling?

Could someone like Bob Stapleton restore its credibility?

As it sits now USA Cycling won't be receiving any more money from me or our club.

i stopped paying the UCI 4 years ago, i just couldn't stand the thought of giving them anything, if everyone did, it would be a huge public outcry for change. great idea.

"I want to tell the world of cycling to please join me in telling Pat McQuaid to f##k off and resign," LeMond wrote. "I have never seen such an abuse of power in cycling's history - resign Pat if you love cycling. Resign even if you hate the sport."

you go greg! i'dd add -- f**k phil liggett, f**k eddy merckx and f**k miguel indurain and anyone else who agrees with them or looks like them :D!

This is fun. I hope it gains momentum. Now's the time, I guess - if media pick up on 'the only American TdF winner speaking out' and he gets some kind of support from anyone in a position of power (his best bet in the peloton is Garmin, but sadly I think Millar's already made the bed with McQuaid to lie on and that is indicative of their strategy), it could gain some traction.

The media component is, of course, a secondary but necessary corollary to the juicy part, the evidence he refers to. Greg is a bit of a crazy dude, but he's crazy like a fox in the way that he gathers evidence, so I feel like there's some kind of substance to his brashness...

With all due respect, I disagree.

There's a concept called the writer's "voice" - and this letter protrays Greg's voice, and emotion, nicely. He's not the smartest cookie - spelling mistakes are evidence of that - but it's a genuine message.

As an example of a well written message, look at the latest diary entry from Cadel. Not only is it spineless and sterile, it's clearly not Cadel's "voice".

Happily posted it to the blog.

Greg ain't smart?!?

You do know there are 7 different types of intelligence, excluding EQ!

Who's smart now?!?

Just google online petition and it will come up with heaps of quick and straightforward options.

Look for one that allows you to delete malicious comments and fake signatures yourself, instead of having to contact them for removal. Change.org requires you to contact them to get names removed. It's a bit of a nightmare in that regard.

You will need to expect malicious attacks, particularly for a few hours each day beginning around 10am GMT.

Have fun!

Edit: And great stuff from Lemond, almost went without saying. Hope Phatty wet his pants. What is the doofus going to do now?

Greg is an intelligent guy obviously.

He´s calling out Patty, "sue me you fat pri*k, do it, please do it!"
Well knowing he wont.

Now the fat mans problem is, "sh**t, why did I sue Kimmage, if I sure Kimmage, I also have to sue Greg, but I can´t do that.."
Fu*k this, now I´m screwed.

Yes you are you big fat slimy piece of sh*t!!

Well done Greg, we´re just behind you.

I love the spirit but it could be better written.

He's not the smartest cookie!! Are you mad. ??He's the only one that is any way palatable!! The man Has either ADD or ADHD, and he has also won the hardest game of chess three times, twice after hanging out of his *** for a while. He may not be, in fact he defineately isn't a great speaker(that is because there are to many simultaneous fireworks going off in his head) and does not use social networks. Smart he is and it is probably on the upper end of the scale. He writes what he hears in his head and has little concept of the likes of your sniping self, but that wont stop you now, will it?

The emotional anger that you hear in Lemond's voice, one could sense the same genuine anger/emotion in David Walsh's voice in an interview he recently gave shortly after Pat's pressconference.
One can only imagine the anger guys like Floyd and Paul are filled with when seeing Pat shrug off all responsibility as if he's somekind of Jesus.
Pat, may you feel as miserable as you look.

whatever you may think of them, CN *is* a major publication in the world of cycling. as is VeloNews (article here) and the original article link. (why else would Pat and Hein demand that Floyd and Paul take out retractions in these places?)

all three are reputable and know Greg well enough to easily verify before posting it on their sites.

So a yes then, thanks.

Did I intimate anywhere that CN, VN or NYV weren't major publications in the world of cycling, or that they were disreputable?

I meant major

Have CN verified he wrote it?
which led me to think you obviously did not consider CN to be major... perhaps you meant mainstream, although that isn't what you said.

you also intimated that they would put up the letter without verifying. they would not.

That’s an obvious one, isn’t it? First ranting against the UCI, than telling McQuaid, that everything has to change and evil Hein has to go … McQuaid is David’s hope for getting a seat on the board.

Had you read my first post in this thread, you'd realise that of course I meant msm.

Do publications verify with the sources of every single 1st and 2nd hand story they print? Of course not.

I don't know why you've picked a fight with me over this, we're on the same side - I hope!

I'm sorry if I've offended you.

Don't think Pat will be inviting Greg round to dinner anytime soon, and vice-virsa

But love what Le Mond said - UCI just let doping fly under the radar, had testing that only idiots would fail.

Sadly, it's not the UCI to brought doping to a head, but USADA. UCI would've just sat on their fat ar*es and let the doping continue while the cash rained in.
