Alex Dowsett won the last stage of Tour Poitou-Charentes ahead of Appollonio and Moreno Hofland. Quite impressive first pro win for Dowsett. Btw, it was not a time trial :p

No matter the competition, pulling off such attacks on flat stages is highly impressive and can only be done by a very select few.

Great news. Aru is one of my favorite riders from U23. Do you know where novikov place by any chance?

Novikov's still leading the race, so he must have placed pretty well.

Today's stage was won by Belarusian Siarhei Papok. This is good as it seemed like his career was stalling a little, and he was being overtaken by Konstantin Klimiankou as Belarusian prospect du jour.

Although it was also a bit of Liquigas @ Cordoba about his win with Sky attacking with 4 riders before Dowsett finished it off alone.

Fabio Aru takes it! What a champion. Novikov was in a downhill after that stage he won à la Merckx. Some physical problem perhaps?

@ Roundabout: I have been searching for some time about it with no luck. At the time, the only thing I found was a rumour on ciclonews.it linking him to farnese. But that was before 1st of August, they removed it. I hope he gets a chance. Quality climber.

Pinot and Stortoni attacked on the last climb (to passo della presolana). First the french, then the Italian. Everybody looked at each other, just letting them go. We don't get to see what happened on the favourites group to explain that gap. On the finish line, Rebellin was forcing the pace though.

It's hard not to notice Pinot now. He has been putting some good performances.
