The highlights are up now:

Also there's a much more detailed report up as well: http://www.stickybottle.com/latest-...-cant-recall-40km-danish-rider-punctures-lung

It sounds like the day was pretty brutal because of the wet roads and the resulting crashes. Bagdonas fell in a ditch and broke one of his shoes, but that was getting off pretty lightly. It seems that almost all of the contenders tasted the tarmac, including pretty much the entire An Post and Sigma Sports teams. Dan Craven (IG-Sigma Sports), who is leading the King of the Hills competition, apparently had a Chris Horner style episode and didn't remember getting back on his bike and finishing the stage. He also wasn't sure where the blood on him was coming from. Jacob Nielsen (Blue Water), who was in 9th place on GC was brought to hospital with a punctured lung. Dion Smith (NZ National Team) broke his arm.

Hopefully everyone is ok. On a lighter note, Bagdonas's abruptly terminated celebration is still hilarious.

Also, the GC rankings I posted earlier are wrong. Quite a few riders dropped out of the top 10. I've changed them in line with the update.

Any highlights of this race available...?? Here is a GE summary;

Orica-GreenEDGE Sprint Train Delivers Allan Davis to Second in Penzberg
Allan Davis sprinted to second in Penzberg on the first stage of Bayern Rundfahrt. Alessandro Pettachi (Lampre-ISD) took the first stage of the five day German Tour while Yauheni Hutarovich (FDJ-BigMat) rounded out the podium.

“I’m really happy with my sprint,” said Davis. “I’m coming off a bit of a break, so I’m pleased to have been up there sprinting for the win. My condition is where it needs to be. Once again, I have to thank the guys for the work they did to get me there in the finish.”

The stage followed a predictable format with a four rider break going clear in the opening kilometers of the race. The peloton, content with the mix of riders, allowed the escape group nearly 15 minutes before they began to pull them back ahead of the first categorized climb.

“We went over a mountain pass today halfway into the race,” said Davis. “I was able to stay with the bunch fairly easily.”

By the mid-point of the stage, the break’s advantage had been halved. The field reabsorbed the group ahead of the local circuit.

As the field set off for three laps around the seven kilometer course, a new break had jumped up the road. The three rider escape group never gained more than a 50 second advantage. The field reeled them in three kilometers from the finish.

“We came in with a bit of a game plane,” explained Davis. “We spoke about coming into the circuits and what we wanted to do in the sprint. Having looked at the profile, we knew that there were two corners – a U-turn – at 400 meters. We planned to hit the corners fast and hopefully get a gap on our rivals ahead of the line.

Orica-GreenEDGE stuck to the pre-determined plane, and Davis shot out of the final corner with a slight advantage on Petacchi.

“The boys did a great job,” Davis noted. “Cookie [Baden Cooke] took me into the last couple of corners. I looked around after the final corner and saw I had about 10 meters on Petacchi. There were still 400 meters to go, so I wanted a little bit. At 200 meters, I hit it. Unfortunately, I had given Petacchi time to grab my wheel, so I essentially led him out for the win.”

Asked about his newest teammate, Davis was full of praise for Sam Bewley who made his Orica-GreenEDGE debut today.

“Sam was great,” said Davis. “He was where he needed to be at every critical point in the race. He did a great job negotiating the last few corners as part of our leadout train. We had Sam ahead of Jens Mouris and Jens ahead of Baden. Sam gave a huge effort in the final, and he’s clear he’s doing what he can with what he has. He measured up sufficiently. It’s obvious that he’s a big talent for the future.”

Wow, didn't expect that. Rogers wins 2nd stage in Bayern. If he won I guess it must have been much better stage than in Belgium :p

Rogers, Sivtsov, Coppel, Gusev, and Zubeldia went away on a climb 60k or so from the finish, and just held on till the finish.

Wonder what sort of gap they got? All pretty decent TT-ers as well, so if they got any sort of gap, this race might be decided between them now

How is Gallopin's TT?

Also I think it is only fair to give Dekker a shout for old times sake (in reality i doubt he can win) and possibly Christian Knees. Also watch out for Christophe Kern he may not be at his top form just yet but by Dauphine, he will be very strong.....

Cant really see past either Porte/Rogers and even then I am looking at Lofkvist/Knees.:D
Nice to see Millar back and looking strong after his injuries.

Gallopin seems very average and inconsistent at TT.
I did include Dekker :D
Kern could surprise, sure. So could Knees, but both of these are quite long shots. I still think it's between today's breakaway, Porte and Millar

That's the list pretty much except Lofkvist. His TT last year was horrible, he won't come in Top 30 of this TT. Add to that he'll have to work to keep yellow For Mick.

If no random break succeeds then Rogers should win, but Porte is probably the best TT'er here so they might actually battle for the win. If everything goes to plan though :p

His time-trail abilities have declined somewhat - as he has added more to his repertoire since turning professional.

As an U-23er and especially as an junior he was a real specialist. He won Chrono des Herbiers in 2006 (he was second in 2005). He was 2nd at the European junior TT championship in 2006 and 3rd at the World championship the same year!

I think he will ride a reasonable good TT. Somewhere around Top-10.
