Does anyone actually care about EC in Denmark?

I care
This morning, it's another danish rider, Casper Pedersen, who won the U23 :p
According to the results it seems the Top 3 (with Cosnefroy and Hirschi behind, and may be also Rikunov 4th) surprised the sprinters (Halvorsen finishes 5th at 3")

For tomorrow it's very opened, no great sprinter like Kittel or Gaviria, may be Bennett, Kristoff or Viviani are the favorites, but will we see another danish win with Magnus Cort Nielsen ? ;)
For France, we have Bryan Coquard but his form is uncertain

Why are Danes so strong in young categories and mostly fail (relative to their previous achievements) to deliver in the big stage?

Difficult to say, but one of the main factors probably is that the Danish youth teams have a reputation for being very professional and well-organized, thus creating some of the best riders in the world but leaving little room for improvement.

I think that has changed a bit over the last couple of years though and we will see the benefits of the chance in just a few years. I actually know Casper Pedersen, who won the race today, personally, and ever since he was a junior the Danish national coaches has put an emphasis on training fewer hours but more effeciently.

There's a pretty good reason why Gaviria isn't participating... :p

Of course, I have just quoted his name because I think he's now one of the two best sprinters in the world with Kittel, not because he should have participated in this race ;)

Live stream for Dwars door het Hageland - Aarschot, 60km to go. Nice race, with lots of climbs, cobbles and dirt sections. Who doesn't remember last year's edition, with Terpstra beating Van Aert on the last uphill sector of the race. This year there isn't any WT team at the start, but Van Aert and Van der Poel are both riding, and I'm expecting a nice battle between the two.

There's been raining today (not at the moment, it seems), so the dirt sectors have a bit of mud and potholes.

It's one destined to go up there with the likes of Tro Bro Léon in the "your favourite small races" pantheon. And only serves to further clutter one of the greatest parts of the season, with Burgos, Portugal, Colombia and Pologne all going on cross-purposes to give you a wide variety of types of racing.

Beautiful except for the lack of respect from WT teams, of course. I've always thought good races need big winners, Terpstra last year was good, and MVP or Wout this year were/would have been good, but it could easily have been won by some anonymous Belgian 1.2 guy, which would have appeared to diminish the race. Hopefully next year the startlist will be better.

Another great race at Dwaars. I loved last years race and this was as good if not better...helped by being won by a rider I really like.

As LS says above, this along with Tro Bro, I'd also suggest De Slag om Norg and especially Schaal Sels are destined to become everyone's favourite "little" races.

Onto Schaal Sels.

The wind may make it interesting tomorrow. Perhaps (hopefully) not a bunch sprint.
