Not gonna lie, I never had my eye on Pedersen before, he just seemed like on of these DSM "talents" that aren't actually that talented, but he's been impressive this early season. He climbs with ease and is fast. Great transfer by QS, he's not "just" a leadout man.

Van den Berg too ofcourse but that doesn't surprise me.

Most of the teams choosing the Spanish one day races before Algarve over this one doesn't help this race btw. Hopefully it will get more good teams next season.

It's a shame there were so few people watching the final straight.

Usually that boulevard is packed with people on a sunday afternoon but since they can't park their car on the sand today they probably didn't bother to go there.

I think the goal is to have it as a Pro Series race in the future.

For now they have a contract to hold it for the next 2 seasons. 2025 is also the year of the next local elections so depending on the results we may have an indication if there will be any more editions after that year.

I do think Pedersen is a typical example of a rider who, if you were to insert him into any other team than QuickStep, would just go back to his old ways of finishing 40th.

It'll be interesting to watch the sprints in Algarve, because both Pedersen and Morkov will start in support of Jakobsen. And it has become fairly obvious in San Juan that Jakobsen no longer trusts Morkov at all at this moment.

Also it was an incredibly Paris Tour in Covid year with almost no WT teams at the start. So I guess it's not that weird that I forgot.

I don't know, I think it was a pretty great win.

But yes, it was the same day as Gent-Wevelgem, while the Giro was going on, so the field was probably not at a historic high ;)

Well, it’s probably fair to say that he has mostly been an “unfulfilled” talent so far, for several reasons. He has had a lot of bad luck throughout his career so far and more often than not momentum and good shape has been ruined by crashes and injuries. He is also not the physical specimen of other Danish talents like Asgreen, Pedersen, Kragh etc meaning he is not naturally a leader for most races. His lack of opportunities at DSM has been quite astounding, though, as he has shown a good turn of speed in smaller groups

I would say its more the opposite. Take him out of DSM and put just a minimum of faith in him and he will deliver some decent results.

Exactly. However, in other cases, it might be necessary to clarify. For example:
"Pedersen in the break. Trek/Quickstep (either works) chasing behind." Do we clarify that the team isn't in fact chasing their own man, or do we just... assume people know? (This is of course only relevant if they're both in the race.)

I didn't think you referred to teams by their names, only this or that team. This seems like quite an academic discussion...

We didn't need to while seing the Hermans', the Vivianis, the Martins or the Izaguirres (just to name some examples). Don't think people in here is getting confused by riders with same last surnames, family or not.

He will, surely - he is in the right environment to do so. Already on Sport Vlaanderen he showed lots of talent. Big engine, notable TT, a penchant for breaks with a good nose for picking the right moment to attack and can climb relatively well on a good day.

It would seem like i'm describing an accomplished rider on Lotto Dstny.

Exactly who I compare him to as well. Although achieving only half of that guy's palmares would already be awesome.
