Why on Earth would you have a personal preference not to become a world champion if you have the physical capability to do so.

He has the personal preference to get some rest after winning a big race, rather than going to a race where everything would have to align absolutely perfectly for him to get a top-10.

But on to the actual race:

Peloton at 2:25.

It's been a few days since Mollema last did Tour de Wallonie:

Which rider has the longest time since their last start in Ethias-Tour de Wallonie ?

I still disagree and think that top 5 would be very, very likely. At least now that we know he is headed to Spain to attempt a Tour-Vuelta double he has a proper post tour schedule that legitimises skipping the Worlds.

No chance for the rest if he starts his sprint in decent position here. Other just aren't fast enough. Good for Arnaud tho. Last bunch sprint win almost a year ago (and if you only count wins against decent competition a whole year ago).

Take him to the Worlds as 4th leader! 😁

Yesterday they said he missed some strength after his injury. Glad to see him compete again.

He said the final was way too dangerous, he was scared and didn't want to take risks. He felt good.
Good. Just heard some commentators say/speculate it because he wasn’t there in the end.
Was following his Strava and he’s putting in some work so was suprised by that.

I mean, he doesn't think he's in superform, so tmrw for example might be too hard, but yesterday was not because he was struggling.

Tomorrow is actually tailormade for Nys. Don't see anyone beating him.

EDIT: actually looking at the parcours in more detail it looks like the finish isn't uphill. Last km is flatish. Could see someone or a little group jumping away on the steeper slopes in the last kms tho.

Julien Trarieux won the Tour of Huangshan in China ahead of Sainbayar and Petr Rikunov, the dominator of the HTV Cup (this year won the gc + 10 road stages). The route was pretty meh with 2 hillier stages and a sprint stage.

It was an impressive sprint by DeLie - Gotta get him to do it in a WT stage race - I remember he was nowhere near it at PN.
