They can't make the time cut 85%. ;)

In a pro race yes.

As a climb, no comparison to Mauna Kea.
Ah yes I should have specified that.

Definitely harder than Zoncolan, Angliru, Mortirolo or any of the beasts used in the Grand Tours.

It's great that we get to see other amazing climbs like this in other parts of the world. Congrats to Turkey on providing the entertainment.

I was actually on the Babadag climb last year but got a bus ride up to 1200m to do a paraglide jump. The road was incredibly rough and full of rocks and loose gravel. They obviously invested a lot of money to get the road ready for this race.

they had to use bricks to pave it because the tarmac would have slid down the mountain before it set o_O

this seems quite a crazy mountain to ride up.

Vine posted that he’s sick again but it just pushes the narrative that UAE are a disaster without Pog leading them…

Several years ago there was a thread* (maybe a tangent in the track hour record thread?) about record setting for vertical gain in an hour, and there was uncertainty as to what route might be possible. This is obviously a candidate.

*Edit: and @Max Rockatansky (whether triggered to do so by this post or not, has found it. (https://forum.cyclingnews.com/threads/uphill-hour.32380) (link tab, and all of the formatting tabs, disabled for some reason...)

I just finished watching the replay of the stage 3 finish of the Tour of Turkey. What a beast of a climb. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the length and gradient of the climb for a non-WT race. No wonder why they extended the time cut. Lutsenko really impressive to be honest. But he is like that, sometimes he has moments of greatness depending on the race.

Can we have a climb like that at the Tour? please pack me 1 to go.

I wonder if Johannessen and Vermeersch could have won the sprint hadn't they burnt some energy in the previous attack.
Nonetheless another impressive win for Godon after the Brabantse Pijl.

Yes and Johannessen also in a bad position coming in the final kick, although his team was upfront he lost the wheel and then was in 20th position with 1 km to go..

Unfortunately this happens him a lot. I think the fact he didn’t race much on the road in his younger years before Covid is one of the reasons why he often struggles in the fight for positions.
I think he could be a rider that could do extremely well in Flèche Wallone if he can sort out the positioning skills.

I think this was an example of a situation where it doesn't help you to have four teammates in front of you. It was Dversnes who was losing positions and then Johannessen was trapped behind him.
