Clásico RCN getting underway in Colombia, 9 stages as per recent history. A mix of potential contenders, with some favourites in peak years after youthful European exploits like Rodrigo Contreras, Adrián Bustamante and Aldemar Reyes, but also some veteran names like Sérgio Luís Henao and of course the evergreen Óscar Sevilla, and young prospects like Diego Pescador.
The race starts with a 33km TTT (booooo!) and ends with an 11km MTT in Bello to Alto Cuartas, which is a 10% climb (the first kilometre is flat, then it's 10km at 10,3%), and takes in a few classics; stage 5 includes the Alto de la Línea from the in-vogue eastern side (boo) and an MTF at Plaza de Toros in Manizales, while stage 8 finishes in Caldas after a descent from the classic Alto de Minas, over 40km at 4,3% but with many harder stretches. There is also a smaller cat.2 MTF at Cristo Rey overlooking Cali on stage 6, which is around 8km at 6,5-7%. While stage 3 is the only "truly" flat stage, the profiles make it look like there are considerable uphill finishes on other stages but these will largely be gradual and not prevent potential sprint opportunities.
However, there is definitely some "worst of race profiles" thread potential here. I mean, just look at the axes on this one.
