Higuita, Caicedo & De la Cruz have attacked from the peloton. More attacks behind. I think Lotto are pacing the group.

Lipowitz bridging up to the front quartet with 4 km to go.

EDIT: He pulled the favourites from the peloton with him. Counter-attacks now.

Caicedo alone in front, favourites together behind.

Lipo attacks!

First Israel rider was Riccitello, Lipowitz doing a bunch of attacks only to put twenty seconds into his closest GC rivals in the final kilometer using the secret ski technique of stomp is a bit weird, though

Too bad LVE wasn't feeling good yet in the first stage or he would've been in the mix for GC. Leknessund kinda destroyed by Lipowitz in the end, not that big of a surprise ofcourse.

I don't understand how Romania is a hot bed of conti level cycling. Thats a lot of fans on the side of the road.

Lipowitch is a great climber, It was a pity he had to leave the Giro, it was the only who could have been no so far for Pogacar at the mountains, and with his team mate D.F martinez would have more interesting that just a training camp for Pogacar.

Also a decent amount of races there and this climb has a big rep as the Ceaușescu-Stelvio, so lots of people show up on it.

I was at the foot of the climb during an Uni field trip to Transylvania a few years ago, I like the more rural areas around Hermannstadt/Sibiu.

Apparently it's impossible to ride there on the weekends, because Rich people with sport's cars (or wannabe rich ones with leased and rented ones) go wild on the mountain road.

Van Eetvelt was doing a recon of many Vuelta stages the last weeks. Did expect him to be good already.

1km before the finish Lipowitz and Leknessund were gambling and slowpacing and the next thing we see is that he is 20 sec in front of Leknessund. I guess he did the Romandie Lipostomp.

He was really bad in stage 1 tho (his own words). And even today he was way better already, but far off his best level. Still lotta work to do before Vuelta. Good thing is that his knee problems seem completely gone.

There's one short part hey show where Van Eetvelt is with Moniquet and Higuita with all the rest going hard like 30m behind. I guess he was leading out Lipowitz. Leknessund, Bennett and some other must've cracked a bit if you see that LVE still stayed ahead and Moniquet (who was in front for like 2kms already still got 4th.

But just at the important moment there is not images....Anybody knows why?
the entire broadcast is done with 4G/5G, and there's just no phone signal at all in that early part of the climb. When they are out of the woods, it's usually working fine, though.

Menten wasn't happy at all with Pickrell's sprint in stage 2a, so I guess that still played a part yesterday.
