Tom Donnenwirth seems like a good find from AG2R, former triathlete. Jorgen Nordhagen showing good form ahead of l'Avenir, coming 3rd on a punchy finish as a diesel. I need him to not fall ill for once, because I ain't ready to give Widar the crown yet.

Edit: Yeah, I don't think that Donnenwirth win will stand for long.

If Decathlon doesn't make him pro immediately I'm 100% tipping Lotto about him again (already did but I'm assuming Decathlon will be keeping him). I'm very impressed with what he's showed this year. Pretty good climber, but also some punch and not a horrible sprint.

Anyways not sure if his win stands? Delettre had a point being mad.

Nordhagen also with a good sprint for 3rd.

Anyone Norwegian/Scandinavian who heard something about Norway maybe not participating in Tour de l'Avenir, meaning Nordhagen would also miss his biggest goal of the season and we miss out on fit Nordhagen v fit Widar once again? Well I guess it's not a rumour as they are simply not on the participating teams on Avenirs website.

Not seen anything about that. Would really surprise me if that's the case, considering the race is always a big deal for the Norwegian team. But there are also hardly any pro cycling news to be read in Norwegian. No dedicated news site, so no journalist is likely to pick up on it early if something is happening.

They are not part of the 24 confirmed teams on the Avenir website and already saw someone mentioning their absence on twitter earlier today.

EDIT: apparently "no money". This universe does not want to give us a great duel. Really hoping some pros join then cause otherwise I don't see anyone beating Widar IF he's fit (he does get sick a lot so...). Like I don't know, Torres, Marti, Novak, etc. really aren't going to do it. Maybe the French team with Rondel maybe if he's in really good form, he loves the hard multimountain stages, he's also signifcantly older, and he has a really strong team around him.

I'm guessing someone like August will definitely participate? But yeah, hasn't shown a lot.

Any of the WT pros are doing Avenir this year?

Maybe Ayuso, who could win his TdF after a Vuelta snub.

Well yeah that's what I'm hoping for. A few pros to actually test Widar and others, then it's easier to see what Widars level actually is. It's hard to tell right now if he's actually that good or if the competition is a bit meeh.

I mean to your first question, obviously not hoping for Ayuso lmao. BUt I don't really see which pros would be interested in. Or at least no pros that would be able to win, like Rafferty maybe? Or Blackmore? I think August and Leonard are probably participating but I have no idea what their level is right now honestly. Annoying that Faure Prost got a bad year health wise other wise he would've been interesting there.

I mean technically someone like Christen could do it, but given he's winning pro races left and right now, I doubt it. Morgado has mentioned it, but not sure what his level in the mountains is.
