So they had a generous nine stages there to play with in Hainan and to design a nice balanced route. But for every single stage they thought, 'well, maybe a bunch sprint is a nice idea'.
Belkin better clean up the situation tomorrow and wins the final stage, overall, 2nd and 3rd and the points jersey or it will be a bit of failure for them.

This time the finish photo is rather interesting.

Hofland's first win was from a break.

Perhaps a little small even for "Little Known Race Results" thread..

But the Tour of Southland is one of New Zealand's largest domestic races. It's only a National Tour event but attracts a decent group of domestic, Aussie and international pros.

Past winners include Hayden Roulston (Radioshack) and Mike Northey (Node 4 Girodana).

The 2013 race includes two summit finishes up the iconic Bluff Hill (2km averaging 17.4%) and another up Coronet Peak (8km at 9%).

This afternoons team time trial prologue (4.2km) was won by Aussie Continental team Huon Salmon-Genesys Wealth Advisors and NZ Time Trial Champion Joe Cooper slots into Yellow.

Kiwivelo-Armstrong Prestige with reigning Tour Champion Mike Northey were 0.4s back in 2nd.

Should be a great week for anyone suffering from post-road-cycling-season blues and looking for some domestic cycling to follow!

Stage 3, same winner. Result:

1 METLUSHENKO Yuri [www.procyclingstats.com] Konya Torku Seker Sport 16 20 2:02:12
2 KANKOVSKY Alois ASC Dukla Praha 11 12 ,,
3 SHPILEVSKY Boris RTS Racing Team 6 7 ,,
4 WOHLER Alex Team Budget Forklifts 5 5 ,

The entire race consist of flat stages, so perhaps Metlushenko can clock up 9 wins. Great stuff.

Been informed the last climb is pretty brutal. The Tabriz boy will destroy the field methinks. Nevertheless I'm rooting for Ito.

Last stages from the cat.3 to the finish are 1674m vertical in 26,8km = 26,8km @ 6,2%. Now, take the false flat at the start out of it, and look at how steep that one section about 160km in is... yea, looks brutal.

Pourseyedi will win the GC here, he's been unstoppable since his ban ended.

It will be hard.

Last year Oscar Pujol won this stage and the Tour, and I hope this year his friend Edgar N. Nieto, that is placed 12 in GC, could reach top ten. :)

Taiwan KOM Challenge 2013 (9 Nov 2013)

Tomorrow this non UCI one day event will kick off. Essentially we are talking about a 100km uphill battle where the road ends at 3275m. Some pros will attend, but the race is largely open for amateurs. Here is the viddy from 2012: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5-Cg5ILtHU

Just plug in >Taiwan KOM Challenge< into a search engine and you will get the website for the race. Yep, I know its ridiculous cumbersome, but the censure on this site can't handle the site name in a link. Lol.

Race starts around 6:30am local.
