Kinda feel sorry for them really, they should be on holiday and instead they have to do (and probably win) 9 stages of this **** race. What a pathetic way to increase the team's number of victories...

I highly doubt any of those riders actually wanted to race. Hopefully it won't affect them too much next year.
It's a good race.

4-5 star hotels at stage start and finish. No Transfers. Nice weather. Easy racing.

Nope. Bos won again, ahead of Hofland.

Bos is the first rider to win 4 stages in a row on Hainan.

Stage 5 result:

1 BOS Theo Belkin Pro Cycling Team 20 30 4:17:15
2 HOFLAND Moreno Belkin Pro Cycling Team 14 18 ,,
3 SHPILEVSKY Boris RTS Racing Team 8 12 ,

ok, so Guardini clocked up 6 wins in '12 Tour de Langkawi. Gotta be the target now. Another variant waiting, luckily with 15km of flat before the finish line. Should work for Bos. Lets see.

It was a little too hard for Bos, apparently.

Yep, shouldn't really be HC - 2.1 at best, especially compared to races like Langkawi, with real parcours and some genuinely good racing.
Theo Bos got sick in Langkawi this year, otherwise he probably could have won every sprint there as well... but yeah, Hainan could use some spicing up of the parcours. Case in point, tomorrow's stage, which seems to be designed the wrong way around:

A few years ago Langkawi was shi!te too, same with TdU for that matter. Question is why are organizers not learning from this?

Anyway Bos can still beat Guradini's streak. Next task here:

A solid kicker at the start followed by 200km (!!) of flat terrain.

edit: redundant....

They design the races with no transfer at all so you see such suck stage. There were some good stage in this race, but compare to other Asian teams or some Pro Conti team from Europe, Belkin is too strong:eek:
Some guys also think they should not come to the race as they are the only World Tour team. But whatever, Belkin is enjoying the party (@MorenoHofland: I’m thinking of staying in Hainan for holiday”).

82 riders are within +1:38 after 6 stages and the majority of the gap(s) is related to stage 1 and bonus secs. This is clearly a parcours problem imo. Sure Belkin is making things look ridiculous, but the organizer really needs to think more in terms of "racing" rather than transportation and hotels to get the balance right.

The last few years Astana and Argos more or less dominated this race, but this year Belkin happen to have brought two sprinters who seem to have no equal in this field. Yeah, then it gets kinda boring. But an HC race without any WT teams isn't an HC race, IMHO.

Agreed and besides it isn't Belkins fault that they are the only WT team there.
They are in the top 3 teams with most victories in 2013 now ;)

The problem isn't necessarily the sprinters but the strength of the guys pulling back the breaks compared to the rest of the field. Do you remember that year Boasson Hagen won about 5 straight stages in the Tour of Britain? With a 6 man team but people like Grabsch, Kirchen and Martin pulling back breaks, the team was simply too strong for any gaps created even on the hilly stages. With no Belkin here, sure there are lots of sprints likely to be had and some of these stages would still be sprints, but the chances for the breakaway are improved, thus the incentive to try to attack is increased.

Here is another fact. After six stages the team classification looks like this:

1 (1) Belkin Pro Cycling Team 61:46:22
2 (2) Crelan-Euphony 0:34
3 (3) Ukraine 0:49
4 (4) Drapac Cycling Team ,,
5 (5) La Pomme Marseille 1:13
6 (6) CCC Polsat Polkowice ,,
7 (7) Burgos BH - Castilla y Leon ,,
8 (8) Team Novo Nordisk ,,
9 (9) Champion System Pro Cycling Team ,,
10 (10) Synergy Baku Cycling Project 1:17
11 (11) Rietumu - Delfin 1:41
12 (12) Team Quantec - Indeland ,,
13 (13) Arbö Gebrüder Weiss - Oberndorfer ,,
14 (14) Max Success Sports ,,
15 (15) Atlas Personal - Jakroo ,,
16 (16) Hong Kong China ,,
17 (17) RTS Racing Team ,,
18 (18) Qinghai Tianyoude Cycling Team ,,

So either every single team have taken vacation or the parcours simply doesn't allows for differentiation.
