I believe this is the first of two races on the weekend, the other being the old Muri Fermani race, which has a steep climb partway through its circuit, so it's a flatter race followed by a hillier one. Porto San Giorgio's pretty close to her (Marina's) hometown of Potenza Picena, and she was a guest of honour today, getting the race started.

It's always nice to see the cycling world hasn't forgotten her - also Bardiani-CSF are riding the Giro with modified jerseys accommodating coverage of Marina Romoli Onlus.

Result:

1 HIRT Jan (Leopard - Trek Continental Team) 2:56:56

Jan putting on the hurt and took a solo win.

Hello, does anyone know more about Jan Hirt? From what I can tell he seems a pure climber and a big talent, but there is often limited information available for these young guns. This display looked impressive, he rode up to the break and was no concern for GC, but still 4 minutes advantage to the next rider makes it looks like he destroyed it. Here is a video:

He already had great results last year in Slovakia, Czech Republic and Giro di Padania.
