I'm hoping Bennett gets some more opportunities to take on the bigger names. He's had a great start to the year.

It will be interesting to see how he gets on in the WT races. I strongly doubt if he's ready to really mix it with the very top tier in the big bunch sprints, but he could already be dangerous against anyone in a reduced sprint on a selective course.

I don't think he'd beat the big three but the second-tier guys in the 1 week stage races... I feel like he'd have a fighting chance there.

Fair point. Most of the time at least one of the big three and a half should be there in a WT race. When none of them are, it's very open with maybe ten contenders starting with the young French guys. It's certainly possible that he's one of those riders already.

(1/2 = Sagan)

Yeah it's those Arnaud Demare, Nacer Bouhanni, Alexander Kristoff, Elia Viviani types I'm talking about. I wonder if Bennett goes to Paris-Nice. Plenty of springing stages and none of the big three.

I don't really think Bennett is a sprinter

I think it's very hard to know what sort of specialisation a young rider will end up with. And it's even harder to know how good they will end up being. Bennett's two biggest wins have come from select groups. And while he has podiums, he hasn't yet shown top quality big bunch sprint winning speed. Whether he will ever do so is an unknown.

That said, Sean Kelly clearly thinks he's a sprinter and An Post thought he was a sprinter, albeit one with an unusual ability to deal with hills. More relevantly, Net App have announced they want to develop a sprint train for him, which is a pretty strong indication that they think he can be a high level sprinter.

Looks like a nice win for di Greg, because the last stage here:

will likely not change things.

Zanotti and Dieteren are good sprinters, if they pick up a lot of bonus seconds then di Gregorio will be in danger.

I think La Pomme Marseille will use Benjamin Giraud to steal boni seconds from this guys

So is Tamouridis. He was in few Top 15's in Giro sprints last year.

I'll go with a second stage win for Wippert, Drapac were very impressive setting him up for his stage win earlier.

Albert Achterhes Pet Ronde van Drenthe 2014 (1.1)

Results:
1 Kenny Dehaes (Bel) Lotto - Belisol 4:56:58
2 Scott Thwaites (GBr) Team NetApp - Endura
3 Bert-Jan Lindeman (Ned) Rabobank Development Team
4 Sander Helven (Bel) Topsport Vlaanderen-Baloise

8 Brian Van Goethem (Ned) Metec-TKH CT
9 Sven Erik Bystrom (Nor) Team Oster Hus - Ridley
10 Remco Te Brake (Ned) Metec-TKH CT 0:00:31

Kenny Dehaes got a win from a small break established late in the race. Some playing around in the final few kilometers saw the group almost getting caught, but Kenny was the strongest.

Solid win for Lotto.
