Wow, that's a real monster, 24,3km at 7,6% and it looks very irregular.
Iran has sooo much potential to host great races, it's no even funny.

Apparently Poorseyedi was going 5.45 w/kg. That's enough to get into the top-5 for the Giro according to the Team Iran Twitter feed. Maybe not top 5 but he could've beaten Geniez and Caruso with that output. It's out of this world. Any race they enter they seem to dominate.
after 3 weeks? no way. this is just after 5 days

The start list for Luxembourg (2.HC) is laughable.

Yes the organizers said they have had great trouble trying to get WT teams to come. The problem is competition from newer races, primarily the norwegian ones I think. They are trying to come up with ways to make it more appealing again, maybe changing the format or changing the dates.

MTN-Qhubeka later released a team statement, explaining what happened, "There was a brief moment of excitement in the MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung camp as Matt Brammeier was initially said to have crossed the line with a blistering fast 3:52. This was clearly incorrect as Matt actually had to walk the final kilometer after succumbing to a mechanical incident."
Sure, one kilometer running world record is 2'11'', so it is obvious that Matt walked it and still managed to lose only 1'22'' on the winning time...

Andy Schleck was recently appointed vice president of the organisation of SkodaTour de Luxembourg... says he has a lot of ideas how to make the race more appealing and attract a stronger field again. Unfortunately it was too late to implement these changes this year, but he is already looking forward to organising next year's edition

Must find a way to fund broadcasting the race or downgrade the event imo.

So they are removing all descents in the race?

Hey Nets - no concrete information yet, we'll probably have to wait until next year to find out, I'll keep you posted...

Broadcasts are a must. Luxembourg is a very attractive country. Needs to use some of the decent mid-length steep stuff on the east of the country. Maybe, a bit like how the Giro delle Valle d'Aosta has paired with towns across the border in Haute-Savoie with historic ties to the area such as Châtel, they could pair with the Belgian province of Luxembourg for a stage around Arlon or Virton to increase a bit of funding (and also this could have the benefit of meaning Belgian continental teams would be allowed in even in a 2.HC race depending on Cookson's position?).

Of course, this could all just mean Côte de Bourscheid MTT on the final day.

Well, Wallonie - Bruxelles were invited this year despite them being a continental belgium squad, so I don't think the UCI is worried with that rule.

In the Tour of Britain, a 2.HC race, last year An post Chain reaction raced and they are Irish. I dont think they care about the rule.

Broadcast is tricky in this specific situation. Luxembourg only has one TV station, and they have never done anything like this. Although to be fair, they have broadcasted the national team's football matches for years, and have recently started online broadcasts of basketball and handball matches. I would imagine that logistically, all of those are a lot easier to broadcast than cycling though. Still, I think this is the way to go for SkodaTour de Luxembourg in specific, and similar races in general. ATOC is a great example in that field. Put up a French or English language live stream online, get some corporate sponsors involved. No one cares if you put a couple of ads in there every ten minutes, at least it doesn't bother me at all when I watch the ATOC Tour Tracker. I'm just glad I can watch a reliable, good quality, easy to find stream, and don't have to find a way to find a bad pirate stream of Eurosport.

Côte de Bourscheid MTT is an interesting idea - might be a bit overkill though to put in two short ITTs on cobbled climbs in a 5 day event. In that case I would say they would have to sacrifice the prologue, and I don't think they'll ever do that

Andy Schleck at the start of today's queen stage.

The heat, a tougher parcours and maybe also the weaker field have made for some interesting racing already. Usually everything stays together until the third stage and this year we have already seen some real damage in the second stage.

Break of the day:

Jens Debusschere (B/Lotto-Soudal), Romain Hardy (F/Cofidis), Bryan Coqurad (F/Europcar), Arnaud Gérard (F/Bretagne-Séché), Rodolfo Torres (COL/Colombia), Laurent Evrard (B/Wallonie-Bruxelles) and Patrick Olesen (DK/Leopard).
