Faulkner took another stage win in Italy, and EF made up the final podium with Cadzow, Faulkner and Emond. The most surprising result in the race came from Monica Trinca Colonel who finished 4th overall. Apparently she did ride in her youth before she hung up the bike and became an optician. It looks like she might be one to watch.

Olivia Baril easily won the opening stage in Extremadura after Ellen van Dijk had launched a strong lead out for Chapman. There was a big crash in the final, so I hope no one got seriously hurt.
Baril's usually struggling a bit on the longer climbs, but if she can limit her loss tomorrow, she's in a good position to take the overall win. She's said that she looks forward to the ITT.

I don't understand why teams like AG Insurance and Jayco are not riding this race - They both have strange calendars.

Quelle surprise, they've had to remove Pico Villuercas due to risk of snow, so they'll finish on a much easier uphill stretch down in Guadalupe. It's probably Van Dijk's race to lose now.
Titia Ryo injured her elbow in the crash yesterday.

Not to be confused with Guadeloupe. Would make for a very long stage otherwise.

I did not totally make that mix-up...

Realini, Patiño, Meijering, Perekitko, Océane Mahé and Ytterhus Haugsett were allowed to ride away from a small peloton. Meijrering gapped Realini on the descent before the finish and won by 20 seconds. Mahé finished third. Baril attacked in the final, but she finished 1:50 behind Meijering.

I have no idea how well Meijering can time trial, but I assume her lead is big enough to win the race now. It was her first pro win today, and it's always nice to see the former Zaaf riders get some success. Movistar clearly has the best team here, but it must still be great for them to rack up some early wins in the post AVV world.

Van Dijk has unsurprisingly set the best time so far, and I doubt anyone will be able to beat it.

Among the first year seniors, Stina Kagevi has been the strongest and is currently in second place.

Chapman finished second on the stage, which was enough for her to finish 3rd overall. Meijering was faster than Realini, so the win wasn't in danger (win no. 100 for the Movistar women's team btw).

Puck can’t hold herself again. Pushing hard on the VAMberg. Hope she can go for the win here, but hard to look past Wiebes.

8 in front now.

Kool, Wiebes and Balsamo still there. Paternoster looking to bridge, glad to see her doing well again!

Dideriksen’s results on the road since her wc 3rd place in 2017 have been quite underwhelmimg, bar a few exceptions. Wonder what happened? Maybe track and road is not a good mix for her.

Easy win. As expected. Balsamo 2nd. I think Puck 3th and Paternoster maybe 4th, happy for her.

There was no crash. I though Balsamo looked good before the sprint, but there was no doubt abut it as soon as Wiebes opened up. Great race by Puck. Kool had nothing left at the end, so DSM should have attacked with Georgi instead.

Paternoster was a last minute replacement for Jayco - The team is poor at selecting suitable riders for specific races, while they ride an unsuitable calendar for the characteristics and strengths of their team. Anyway, Paternoster should always be riding races in Belgium and Holland with her skillset.

After today hopefully they understand. She was chasing with 3 after the 8 strongest and still ended 4th. Best form for her since some track podiums. Was following her the last 10km’s and she’s so good at positioning on these small roads.

Wiebes and Kopecky on the front with Sierra and Williams.

Norsgaard, Makaaij, Consonni, Paternoster, De Wilde in the chasing group of 8 I think.
