He certainly isn't a shoe in, I'm not even sure he is favourite. There's stillquite alot of time to make up. Although he did look pretty gd in the climb yesterday wheelsucking or not, I don't hate in him for that. You need to ride your ability/talents, if goats can't get him off there wheel well that's there fault .

Yes, everybody was sitting in until late but here's the issue with LL as I see it: he waited until Cunego started the action before he did anything. There were guys ahead of him on GC who were falling off or were about to. A guy ahead of him on GC was up the road. yet he still wouldn't do anything except sit on.

He didn't need to pull for Cunego. He needed to pull for himself and he still wouldn't do it. Instead of picking off the guys ahead of him one by one, he seemingly calculates what time he can take out of them in the TT and races accordingly.

To be fair, he may have been at his limit, but his strength in finishing 2nd belies that claim. He rides so unbelievably defensively at all times that it is irritating (that's a bit strong) to watch.

Sums up Levi's racing ethos pretty well.
From a spectator standpoint, when you compare Cunego's escapades in the Swiss mountains, to those of Leipheimer, it is easy to see why Levi is more likely to attract haters, than fans.

Imagine Alp D'Huez at Le Tour raced by a dozen Leipheimer clones. Then imagine an entire season.......................ugh.

Have you looked at the profile of the TT?

LL will have a job and a half to pull back any meaningful time on a course like that.

Couple that with his inability to actually attack Cunego until 500m to go and the expression "not a prayer" comes to mind.

Boring, boring rider. Sooner he retires the better, IMO.

Levi could win but this is good evidence of form for the TDF. TGBM will not be able to put in any great attacks. I would instead focus on Stevo. Cunegoo will not lose 2 minutes either. Soler could have ignited the race tomorrow.

Yeah, Gatto, I think you're correct, and Levi will prevail, though I too was pulling for TJ. Actually, though I am not usually a fan of his, I found myself cheering on Il piccolo peepee (or something like that), as Cunego has had a decent race and tried to "honor the jersey" by putting in that attack. He went too soon, though, eh?

But I don't understand the bad attitudes about Chris Horner at the ToC. He and Levi were clearly the best two riders at the moment, and Chris rode to win. In my mind, Horner has been a journeyman racer his entire career but is finally getting opportunity to ride to win, and he is taking advantage of it: There's nothing for him to be ashamed of, is there?

I think Leipheimer is a chance especially if Cunego time trials the way he usually does. I think Cunego is in such good form though, that Leipheimer might fall short by 30 seconds or so. If Leipheimer narrows the margin before the time trial, Cunego might be in trouble. I doubt that Mollema can win. I don't think the TT course is a bad one for Leipheimer

I agree. I think the Levi haters has a problem with him because he is boring and still gets quite a few nice results. Most boring riders have boring results as well.

The 'hate' is because the likes of Harmon rammed him down our throats after 2005, and because as other people have said, despite having the 'talent' to ride more aggressively, he is such a negative rider.

The fact that he won't contribute a shred of work to the group in the mountains, instead preferring to suck wheels is reason for people to dislike him.

And there is a 'clinic' issue with his wiki page and his behaviour over that issue.

I don't think he gets anymore 'hate' than anyone else, it is just there are fewer teenage fanboys (although by the looks of it he has a few), to defend him.
