I think his tactics need a lot of work. What he did in Lombardia was just stupid. At the Giro last year he often attacked in descents to get dropped after they caught him because he wasted too much energy.

he doesn't waste energy in downhil. he simply isn't a very good climber. that's why he drops. his lombardia attack was also an act of desperation after which he bombed hard.

Tactics is the wrong word in this case. His results this year are proof of that.

PS: Nibali & Bad Tactics do not, will not go together. Learn it! ;)

Are you DT's roommate by any chance?

nibali is an egocentric **** his whining about sagan in tirreno alone makes me hate him. in msr he attacked and then wheelsucked which made both sagan and himself lose the race. not to mention he's overrated beyond believe.
I call BS. You hated him long before this season.

And I don't think he's overrated. He's usually not considered THE top favourite for any race, and he's acknowledged to be at least one step below the greatest riders in every category. But with all his limitations, he delivers. World's number 1 in 2010, and 3rd so far in 2012.

somebody from Astana on the podium
they really strong

They have a really good chance. Kreuziger will be strong, iglinsky, gasparotto, and kiserlovski are also all in good shape. I actually think gasparotto could do well again, because even though the mur doesnt suit him very well he still did top 10, so is obviously in really good shape.

that still doesn't mean i like him winning
Loads of talent, but hasn't really learned how to use it yet. When he is perhaps the strongest in the race, he chances his arm from much too far out...solo. Some guys can do that in some races, Nibali isn't one and not in Lombardia or the Giro. He could slip under the radar a little for liege, but I don't think so.

I think Gilbert will win this. Valverde has overraced and i think will not feature at the end. Albasini looks in good form so should be considered and is the best sprinter on the flat sections. Who knows Gerrans might also have recovered and Simon Clarke can make a good showing.
The Shlecks will somehow go well at this race and be animators.
Voeckler and Cunego are the unknown quantities and x-factors that will go well. Cunego i think will get in the top 3.

I think Vanendert will go well here ( succesion of climbs that might enable him to go with attackers ).
I don't think Rodriguez will be able to win as there are gaps between each climb and his attacks might not stick.
Nibali and Kreuziger will go well.

Piti over raced? If anything he lacks form because he wasn't able to race Pais Vasco due to his fall in catalunya which also forced him drop from that race. It certainly makes more sense as without the VaC and the VaPV this is probably the lightest (racing days wise) he has ever reached the ardennes in his entire career

Valverde,Gerrans and Cunego are my first three choices but Albasini,Purito and Vanendert also have good chances.Dark horse for the race is Kiserlovski(Astana) he seems to be in great form.

Those races aren't really needed if you train hard, Phil never does those stage races.

Phil did the Cobbled Classics before the Ardennaises. No crashes disrupted his preparations, unlike Valverde.
Anyway, according to DS Yvon Ledanois, Valverde has the Tour in his mind already.
