The interview was pure propaganda. The riders were not happy with the merge except Schlecks, they have a good excuse to do nothing until the Tour, they have a powerfull team and want to give chances to win races to others.

He's probably the only one of all the contenders that will say that "he will win the Tour". Each year he's had either the strongest team or one of the strongest, with top flight support behind him. Now he has Bruyneel, who tells the media in his usual arrogant tone, that he's looking for his team to "dominate" their opponents. How can I not root for them to fail spectacularly?

Meh, I've heard it all before. I want actions before I beleive the words. Heard a press conference before the tour which he was asked about had he improved his tt. He pretty much said he needs to win the tour with his strength and improve on that which is his climbing. You got the feeling that he hadn't worked on his itt. Wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't win the tour with such an attitude. Too much of a party boy. Anyway, some people just aren't good time trial riders. Schlecks did a good itt for what they are at the tour.

Just sums up everything that is wrong with both Andy and the merger imho. On the one hand he seems determined to work hard to try and win the Tour - ITT, stop goofing around etc - but then maintains that he won't change his way of doing things, just because JB is now in charge. Does this mean that he'll still be looking over his shoulder for Frank every 10 metres (Galibier excepted)? Dual leadership doesn't work, but it is clearly the option that both he and JB (certainly this year) prefer, but can't see it working.
As for his comments about the merger being the best thing for LT, the way it's been handled clearly show that it isn't, particularly the lack of communication to the riders, and smacks of selfishness in my eyes. And only the Tour matters? Much as I dislike him, wish someone would explain to him that it is possible to be competitive in races outside of July.

It can work, see 2008 TDF. The reason it works is one rider has to sacrifice their chances. It definitely doesn not work if the stronger rider doesn't take advantage of that sacrifice.

That would be ideal. But I think that Frank can just as well win the Tour as myself. This year, we started out with two leaders and in the end the team rode for me because I was placed better. Next year, we will also be the two leaders, Frank and I.
