Why make today about Bruyneel. Voigt and the team (who are doing the actual riding) could care less about press releases and twitter. Posts like yours? WTF?

If u think that Bruyneel dont have a say in the team tactics even if he is not there u are naive.

You keep switching it around becasue your just trying to take away from Voigt's
making it a great final. If the team dosn't perform well you mock the riders. If it does, then it's Bruyneel, Bruyneel wah, wah....

Just a broken record.

Was Horner called back to nurse the GC contenders? I wonder what he will have to say? I think he could have been up the road about 1:30 down on the day.

Lost contact with a mechanical. Think he was then called back when chances for the stage where gone

The danish commentators was upset with Frank for ****ing it away playing domestic when he had legs for much more.

If he did not want to achieve more and make a bikerace out of it, for the first time in this tour, he could go home and fish with Andy.

Horner had cramps. Or so he says.
Cramps from not drinking enough. I have no reason to doubt that from what I saw of descents and the nature of the break. Smart of him actually to just stop and down a bottle. I pull up once in 100K TTT. It came out of nowhere. Very hard to drink there too.:(

Look, I understand how huge it is to be there for the birth of your child. And especially to be there for your wife, for those of you who don't know! DO NOT screw that up.

But .... uhhhh .... you were hired to be a leader on your team in the biggest bicycle race (by far) in the world. And you bail out mid-way through? It's kind of a big deal. And it makes me think that he thinks this team or at least his time on this team is finished.

It makes it look like the portions of the race he was most interested in were over with so he was taking his ball and going home. I know he has a huge following and deservedly so, so I am going to take heat. I am pretty surprised I didn't see more commentary here. Wondering if there isn't another discussion I missed.

Yes, it was going on for a while and most felt we (I agree with your post) were wrong and shouldn't even invite the option of it being bad or that he was doing something positive when well, like you say.

Ah yes, take the heat from the pugdog.

You have a strange sense of priorities.

He said months ago that he might not finish the tour because of Olympics etc. The birth just comes on top of all this.

Also, he said he won't be super-dom for anyone this year (again because of Olympics), so what is the point of slugging it through huge mountain stages? The only thing to look forward to would be the final TT, but does he really need another third place?

You could say it's bad for the team, but really they don't have a podium contender any more, and they will probably be able to defend their 9th and 10th places or whatever by themselves. Right now, Cance needs to figure out what to do in order to win at the Olympics (which is proving a daunting task as you can see!), instead of wasting time in a race that is already over.

I think your comments are entirely correct! He was hired to race in the biggest cycling event in the world - if he couldn't commit then he shouldn't have accepted the role.

Riders use the Giro and the Vuelta as warm up races, so why not TdF? Sprinters have throughout the history of TdF left when the mountains hit, so why not Fabian who can't make a difference at this point?

Do you know Fabian's contract, do you know his planned race schedule? He has practically singlehandedly (well Voigt deserve some credit too) saved the team's TdF while at the same time only speaking positively about the team, something the ****ers could learn from. Getting gold at the Olympics will mean more to the team than anything Fabian can do in the remaining part of TdF, so what the heck are you on about! But yeah, I agree, it would be nice to upset the big bear so he'll change teams and take his points with him.

Only too true. It is no way to repay your teammates for their efforts in the first week.

I'm willing to bet that his teammates knew there was a chance he'd be pulling out early. Considering that he's been the lone shining light for this troubled team all season with the exception of Fuglsang, I doubt his teammates are feeling any animosity towards him. They've all fallen out of contention and are left to chase potential stage wins.

He wore the yellow for a few days, then got beat on what he thought was a very good effort in the TT, what's the point of sticking around? He's already done what he can.

He's only going to get 3rd at best in the next TT, he's not doing anything in the mountains, and there is no team leader to pull around.

Work for the team.
