At today's intermediate sprint:

"Gilbert has gone early and the gap has opened. That's a good move!"

About 20 seconds later after HTC blast past Gilbert.

"I don't know why Gilbert went too early ... he went far too soon" (said in a very condescending tone).

At the end of the stage today, Phil got a bit excited about the Rainbow jersey, as Thor rose up to celebrate, Phil exclaimed 'Both arms in the world.'

It's a tough job, but he really is a poor commentator and that's a reason why we love him I suppose!

Speak for yourself, the gibberings of these monkeys disgust me utterly.
Each to their own, I myself watch Eurosport, but on a boring flat day he is a source of some amusement!

"Lourdes is of course the 3rd biggest Mecca for the Catholic Religion"

That is quality. I like the way he says "of course".. Its like he thinks he knows what the hell he's going on about.

It would be funny but for the fact that all the misinformation they spout gets lapped up by new cycling fans and taken for granted as truth

That is true but for anyone who follows the sport can pick it out fairly quickly and just enjoy it.

Paul on vultures during today's random Planet Earth interlude:

"These birds need an inordinate amount of food to sustain them... blah woof... I'm looking for the white Egyptian vulture Phil..."

Phil "Never OUT OF AFRICA have I seen a sight like this. They must have thrown a CARCASS down there to feed them Paul"

Paul: "I'm still looking for the white Egyptian bird Phil" (WTF?! is this private code?)

Phil, laughing nervously "and now back to our own pack of vultures, the peleton!!!!"

Absolute gold.

I'm going to merge this with the Liggettisms thread - however before I do.....

HOW has nobody posted this Tour's all time gem?:

Climbing Luz Ardiden: "Voeckler hasn't put a wheel wrong all day - except for when he crashed of course...."

Some great ones today.
1. The sting in the tail comes right at the end.
2. The dropped riders are all behind.
3 Cancellara, with that white cross on his shorts he is the champion of Belgium.

"Cancellara on his little radio there...he's probably being told about Jens Voigt and his two crashes and to watch out for him."
