Thankfully the Italians beat the US in the men's Volleyball QF. Hopefully they can win that elusive gold medal.
Disappointed that Veronica Campbell's 200M winning streak at the Olympics came to an end, but after 3 World titles it's fitting Felix finally won Olympic Gold. It's really difficult for an athlete to win 3 straight Gold medals in the same event, even Isinbayeva failed.
That might be a good target for Bolt.
It seems that US will end on top of the medals table. The Chinese have only two more Diving events for highly probable gold medals. The US should bang about 4 more in athletics and 2 from basketball.

Glad at least one other person saw the men's high bar in the gymnastics. Watched it again on the DVR. Just incredible.

Just watched a little basketball now...It´s terrible...it's disgusting that the last minute of play takes like 15 mins in real life. Plus a little touch here or there, and the spain player falls down like the worst soccer divers, pretending he is dying on the field.
Not going to dispute anyone's specific dive, but...

Welcome to the NBA! Now, imagine what you just saw stretched out as a season that lasts for nearly nine months...

And then came FloJo.
(I don´t count the GDR women, that´s another sad story).
FloJo's records in both the 100m and 200m still stand to this day. And have never been seriously challenged. But what's more bothersome is the essential omerta surrounding how she attained them. It's LA like in many ways. :(

Even Marion Jones in her heyday couldn't break it.

John Steffenson's mouth was again going faster than his legs in the 4x400m qualifying heat. No wonder we didn't qualify. Solomon was the standout.

After reading your post yesterday i searched for it on the bbc rewatch website (since all other uploads are banned here) but couldn't find it. Wikipedia says it was 7th August at 1400 but they were showing something else then.:(

Can someone explain what happened there?

He tried to punch the ball away from the opposing player and ended up hitting balls instead.

.....or maybe he tried to punch the player in the balls and came dangerously close to hitting the ball. ;)

Unreal. YouTube used to be awesome. Total democracy. Now it's clogged with ads, and stupid rules like this.

What, you don't want to see NBA stars in the Olympics? What are you, some kind of communist? ;)

He never learnt how to dismount...
Seriously, he completely stuck the dismount. :)

But one has to see the entire group perform, from Danell to the last Korean guy, to get an appreciation as to just how great many of them did.

I saw the complete men´s competition too. It was awesome. But still, i liked Gabrielle Douglas much more. In close competition for Miss Olympic 2012 with Allyson Felix.

Yeah NBA/Mens basketball. Maybe even worse than soccer. I am still undecided...

I loved the voice of Mister Florence Griffith Joyner the most.
