Precisely!.

If people think eating real food in real amounts is a prison sentence then they need to come eat with me some time! :)

Id put MONEY on it that I eat more FOOD than ANYONE on this forum. I also eat WAY more variety. Most people only eat a few different animals. They eat the animals that advertising says is ok. Nobody can say that aint true.

Someone mentioned that Zabriskie has to eat salmon a few times a week to get enough iron. Well lets do the math.

A half fillet of salmon is around 0.5mg of iron.
2 generous handfuls of raisins provides around 9mg of iron.

Eating catfood to get enough iron is like collecting cans to buy a house. There is FAR better ways to do it.

You know the funniest thing? People I meet out training that cant even keep up with me on a climb saying 'I couldnt get enough protein as a vegan (even though you could literally eat a kg of plant protein a day if you wanted too). Then I ask em 'how much do we need and how much do you get a day?'. They NEVER know the answer and most of em say 'oh I take a protein powder cos I need more protein..' LMFAO.

So you wont get enough protein, iron, b12 etc as a vegan so NEVER eat like your instincts tell you, just follow orders from the status quo and meaningless traditions based on famine eating habits AND take your vitamin, mineral and protein supplements from the multitude of companies out there offering them. Be a good consumer and dont ask real questions.

But hey, Im crazy right. ;)

Im here in Thailand and the locals are freaking out and how strong I ride. They have known me for years and this season Im the fittest ever. They just shake their heads and cant understand it. Im in NYC next week and will do damage around Central Park. So if you see the vegan streak on the bamboo bike, make sure you say gday. :)

Here is the bamboo bike in action.

And if people are so pure that eating organic soy is the excuse they use why they cant be a vegan well there is literally 50 different plant food, protein rich, nutrient rich, high carb plant staples to choose from.

In life there are excuses and action. Change requires action. No action, no success.

All I can say it's a summer holiday in the USA .. where BBQ's abound . . . . and I gotta say . . . . they smell really really good :)

A small amount of BBQ'd meat would be fine. This is why I'll never be moral/purist vegan or vegetarian . . . . There's nothing that says my diet must be all or nothing . . . black or white. (been there, done it, it sucked) I can eat a small amount of animal food that I want and feel great. It doesn't mean I want it all day, or every day . . . or whatever . . . it's about allowing myself the flexibility to eat what calls me.

This is why all "diet plans" fail, they are about following some kind of prescribed way of eating.

Food is meant to enhance our lives .... not imprison us.

What are you saying ??? You mean to tell me use my common sense .....

Nooooo ... say it isnt so !!!! :D

Yep ...quite simple really .... no pidgeon holes needed. Just moderation ... WOW

well done.... taken a one word quote out of someone's post in order to misinterpret them... again.

Have a nice life DurianRider - I certainly am having a nice one and I am nowhere near as hung up on food as you.

Have a look at Barracuda's resonse to lostintime's post to see what it was that you missed.

The food is not the issue .... it's the attitude and beliefs held about what you're eating that imprisons. It's real easy to pick out unfit and overweight people and say "this is what X foods do to you". What about the population as a whole though? There are many people eating a wide variety of foods considered less than optimal by the "health promoters" that are thriving just fine. You won't find them being a part of this study or that that study because they could care less about them. They live their life for the joy of it ... not trying to attain some ever-fleeting perfection through diet.

As far as iron(or any other nutrient) absorption .... is it not all about usability, rather than quantity? While I agree Zabriske eating Salmon for Iron seems a bit odd(even fishy ..LoL) .... we are not privileged to know the details of what's really behind that decision. . . and we don't live in his body, so our opinions are blind.

Okay DR, but if you're THAT powerful why are you not racing pro then? Who is this competition you're riding against? I'm not dissing you ... I'm just saying the people here don't know and are wondering . Are your results typical of anyone going vegan? They are not mine. I suppose you can cherry pick people who have had great performance increases, but I'd bet most have not. Why? .... because it's not all about food. Life is mostly between the ears. Again ... people thrive on all sorts of diets ... because it's not just about the food.

I'll agree with you here that one must find their own best diet, rather than let others choose for them. Be a leader . . . not for others . . but for yourself. . . the only master than means anything.

Back to imprisonment again .... I've been to your website DR, seen how it works and is run. I did find it imprisoning myself because of the extensive list of do's and dont's, and more importantly, the attitudes and beliefs about them. If you don't follow the extensive "rules of the regime" and spoke of it.... your were banned and your responses deleted. That right there . . . was and is a red flag of insecurity in the validity of the bananas "regime". It's your/Freelea's way or the highway. Well . . . that's fine and all for there . . . but you've lost some credibility with me here. You may say and believe you're all about helping others find some kind of bliss in their life through your ideas, but your attitude and beliefs about how to live sometimes say otherwise. I'm not intending to knock you here . . .'cause we're all human and inherently imperfectly perfect. . . we are who we are.

True strength needs no defense.

Are people still trying to argue with this pompous, holier-than-thou *******? I would presume people would know by now that there is no real discussion possible with him, unlike some of the other vegans on here and in the world. But this guy is only interested in himself and to aggrandize himself by linking himself with succesful people and his "beautiful" girlfriend. It appears as though he is so insecure that he needs to come on this forum solely to justify his decision and lifestyle to himself

It IS a funny thread though!!! :D

I´ve gained more insight and knowledge from others´posts than I have from the OP. But hey, Harley´s good for a laugh at the very least (even impressive, if the level obtuseness leveled by him in this thread alone is an indicator).

#In the lab I had the watts and vo2max (78 tested at the CSIRO). I went over to Belgium in 2003 and raced. It was not the lifestyle for me. I didnt want to dope so I went back home. Its as simple as that and anyone that is honest and has experience will tell you so. Heck, I dont even drink caffeine. Look at my wattage and times on climbs. Put some legal pills into me and thats pro wattage. Put some hot sauce into me and thats the next level. Im not interested though.

#Im into health and fitness and helping others achieve same. When fat, out of shape people tell me Im wrong, I dont take it personally.

#Even if my goal was to be a pro rider, even if I won the TDF 15 times as a vegan, people on forums that hide behind photos of other people and never put up any videos or really do much in life would say 'AH! He would have won 16 TDF's if he ate some cow ****!' lol!

#What keeps me posting here? Its the emails of support and questions I get. I dont take it personal when someone tries something, does it wrong and then their ego says 'this doesnt work! its dangerous!'. I see it daily. Im here to help the people that are committed vs just interested.

#If anyone is in NYC, I train in CP most days. Lets catch up for a loop or a few laps. :)

I run for a bit of cross training. Here is a shot from a few days ago. Its in the Bronx, NYC and its a 5k.

My high carb, unrestricted carb calorie intake is clearly heading me towards obesity.

I train about an hour a day on average. I race once a week. Easy routine to get into whilst still maintaining a solid balance with other lifestyle facets.

"A new study involving over 80,000 people found high cholesterol made absolutely no difference to heart attack risk, and was associated with a lower risk of stroke. "

http://anthonycolpo.com/?p=2188

"A soon-to-be published article in the journal Atherosclerosis adds to the vast sum of research contradicting the cholesterol theory of cardiovascular disease.

In this study, researchers tracked 82,380 participants with no known history of cardiovascular disease for an average of eight years (during the period 1994–2004) as part of the Health Survey for England. Mean age of the subjects was 55.4 and the male:female ratio was 45:55.

Given that we’ve been told ad naseum cholesterol causes coronary heart disease (CHD), you’d expect blood cholesterol to assert itself as a robust risk factor for heart disease in such a large study. With 82,380 participants followed for almost a decade, and with 806 and 1346 subsequent deaths from stroke and CHD deaths, respectively, cholesterol had every opportunity to leave its allegedly deadly mark.

But it didn’t.

Total cholesterol levels didn’t make a whit of difference to coronary heart disease risk, and were in fact associated with a lower risk of stroke[1].

Oops. Bet this study won’t be getting the extravagant media coverage given to all those shonky Big Pharma-sponsored statin studies that are prematurely ended whilst the “miracle” drug is still showing a piddling but “statistically significant” advantage…

So what factors were associated with increased stroke and heart attack risk?

Only age, smoking, systolic BP, diabetes and physical activity were predictive of stroke, while age, male gender (get those iron levels checked fellas…), smoking, systolic blood pressure, HDL cholesterol, diabetes, BMI, physical activity, CRP, and fibrinogen were predictive of coronary heart disease.

Bottom line: Don’t smoke, do some regular exercise, avoid high blood sugar levels, keep a healthy weight, and keep your serum ferritin between 30-75 (depending on your activity levels). And give cholesterol-phobia a good swift kick in its fraudulent backside."

Let me guess, the reason my grandpa died of massive heart attack was nothing to do with his meat consumption. LMAO! It was the lettuce he ate, yeah, he actually needed more animal protein to heal his arteries and more animal fat to keep his blood sludge slick right? ;) Morons!

What next, bloggers debunking more clinical trials done by Dr Esselstyn? LMAO!

Is anyone else waiting for Durian Rider to try and convince us he's like Brandon Routh in Scott Pilgrim vs The World and that eating vegan actually does give you superpowers - for real? :D

What a trainwreck this thread is. OP posting soft porn of his GF every other post. The level of cockiness/arrogance so over the top, it reads like a character's line in a B-movie.

Posting picks of the backsides of the pro riders with OP tagging along???

I found this more interesting, however. Seems like 30 Bananas a day is a bit like a cult.

Much much more out there on the interwebs ....
