Even when the experts have come to a standstill Durian is still sitting on the back for his official photographer.

Sat on without a turn for 139K, irritated some bemused pro riders and I'm still alive!

I was thinking that if fruitboy really wanted to open peoples' eyes to new options in their diets, he might post some recipes/photos in the Cuisine Corner thread. Hell I might even try one or two. But he has never posted there. Enlightenment takes a back seat to self-promotion.

Someone tell Graham Watson he'd better stop aiming the lens at fruitboy and take more photos of his meal ticket. The poor fat guy probably can't help himself.

EDIT: Well I might try one or two recipes that didn't consist of "40 bananas, 20 dates, and Exlax"

this, I'd be interested in - the recipe bit not the truckloads of 2 fruits
even some recommendations of vegan/vegetarian cookbooks wouldn't hurt...

Just got this feedback via email from a local cop.

Read article about you in Living Raw from last year, love what your doing!!

Your video advice for fat people is absolute gold, love your simplicity and honesty, there should be more of it.

I have been looking for some thing like 30bad and 811 for sometime, tried many ways of eating but always felt natural eating fruit so when I read about you it was awesome confirmation!!

I plan on having a few pro boxing fights, in training now, weighing 84kg but I know I can get to low 70's once the excess crap is gone!! cant wait to achieve it on fruit based diet at 30 years of age in a meat eating youth dominated sport ha ha !!!

Cheers,

Some people train and some complain.

What people's views on eating dried apricots whilst riding? ATM it's turning into one of my favourite snacks to eat during the day. Same with cashews.

I go easy on the nuts cos they are too high in protein/fat to really aid performance like high carb foods like dried fruit.

Today I went out with Radio Shack and had dates with me. Ate 4 per hour. We did 130km all up.

Ive been out with ALL the big names here for TDU (Lance included) and power metres are like bidon cages... essential stuff.

Its cool how average speed means squat eh? Its all about the watts! 2 people could have the same av speed but different watts cos one drafted more than the other.

I tend to second and third etc everyones opinion here... give us rational suggestions without the "i am the greatest" carryon and some of us might actually take some on board... I know that if I eat a large steak and chips that I feel off but if I eat a salad and a white wine I feel "refreshed" and "light".

Your carry on puts people of the essentially valid message.

By the way... not sure what the pics of you and Juan Pelota have got to do with this thread other than some serious chamios sniffing (as others have said).

P.S. Did you get a personal invite to the front at yesterdays twitter ride ?? Saw the Green flash go by at the start heading to the front and had to chuckle :rolleyes:

Folks, this is why fruit bats are apex predators and the most vicious creatures in the animal kingdom. Lions and tigers wet themselves with fear when the mighty fruit bats appear.
Live it.

10+ kilograms to lose? Sounds a little porky. I guess your definition of "superfit" is a little different than mine.

Durian, do the pro riders you ride with talk to you about vegan-based eating habits?

Not many pro riders are that conscious. I train with em for training purposes vs enlightenment.

Some riders obviously take their nutrition seriously and Ive had a few chats for sure.

Barracuda: Thats the problem with society. We are told to wait for invites to dance. I say go out and dance and make life happen for you. Being a wall flower sucks. Life is adventure. Dare to live it. Sure not many can keep up but the real sad fact is not many even try.

Here is a shot of my girlfriend from last week. You dont score conscious fit and healthy partners by being a wall flower thats for sure. Live with passion and let the naysayers tell their story of why life's a ***** and the world hates me while you are working on your tan and making your life count for something meaningful and empowering for humanity. Ive had people say 'Harley, your idealistic and self righteous!' and I reply 'yeah, and you will be doing the same crap and whining about the same problems in 40 years time cos your choosing to live, act, think and speak like a flakey flounder.'

Lifes short! Dont die with the music still in you!

"life's a box of chocolates"

"Lifes short! Dont die with the music still in you!", being a vegan shortens your life, thats disapointing. :)

I choose to be not-fit and kick some behind every now and then:D Wouldn't mind living where Durianrider lives, because I would certainly be much leaner and have much nicer tan. I don't know about concious and hot girlfriend though because my wife might not take that too well.

But seriously people, take it bit easier...

Just out of interest, durianrider, how many of these professional cyclists you go biking with are vegans?

I bet Alberto wishes he was.
Then again, he wouldn't be able to claim that the clen came from contaminated bananas..

So anyway.. I stopped training a few years ago & put on a bit of weight.
I am back training again (quite hard) & eat basically whatever I want within reason.
A bit over two years ago I was 85.4kgs (188lbs), this morning I was 72.8kgs (160.16lbs).
It didn't take any special diets.
It didn't take any special supplements.
It didn't take any weight loss powders/drinks/fads.

Consistent exercise & eating pretty normally did the trick.

Agree with some of the other suggestions:
-rear wheel on when possible
-remove rear derailleur
-plastic fork supports (have also used a spare deore hub which I bought because it was cheaper than buying just a shimano skewer by itself!)

I haven't flown with a bike nearly as often as Harley, but at least half the time my bike box has arrived with a hole or tear in it. On my first fly-with-bike trip, my bike arrrived back home minus the skewers and aero-bar armrests that had been in the box. Since then, I make sure everything in the box is either taped or tied to the bike. Another friend of mine was delivered a bike minus seat and seatpost. For international trips, many countries open the box to do customs inspections, and they never tape it back together as securely as I would like.
