I do love an opportunity for the bien pensant types getting horribly upset by 5 figure rightwing attrocities and being remarkably 1-eyed about 8 figure left wing attrocities.

I'm not going to reply again, because these discussions are off-topic, and tedious.

Sounds like Rojas is a ****, but no more of a **** than the lefties who fete Stalin/Guevara/Castro/Mao etc, and who greatly outnumber him and his type.

Trust me, I'm not a fan of the lefties at all. :)

It's not comparable. A Briton praising Stalin is not the same as a Ukrainian praising Stalin, for historical reasons.

Did someone even do that? I'm not going to reply again, so I'll answer the question. No, they didn't.

Yep, in China there are millions of people who are brainwashed to believe Mao was a great leader.

I kind of agree with that, though I guess until a cyclist comes out and says that Mao is an idol, you can't assume that they wouldn't be criticized for it.

Possibly ignorance more than hate, I don't know what the story is.

I also remember a rumour that Delfino is a member of Mussolinis daughters party AS

I can't see what Mambo95 has said is wrong here, it's common sense. To be honest I think he's hit a raw nerve with you and a nail on the head

Some of the posters on here do like to argue about the minutiae and cannot see the wood for the trees. You put plain evidence in front of them and they'll argue black is white. You inject a bit of humour into proceedings and they leap from their pram (that's you Angliru and Brodeal - I mean after all who could take my American/Farrar comment seriously, but you certainly took the bait).
Show them something they hadn't noticed and they seethe because inside they cannot understand why they didn't see it in the firstplace.

And if you are reading this Brodeal, the only reason I was on here yesterday was because I was at home looking after my children -any 3 hour rides I do are normally between 9pm and 12 midnight on my mtb after they're tucked up in bed - http://app.strava.com/rides/3585887

If that was honestly your initial attempt at humor I would think that you would have cleared up the misconception much earlier than now when you're obviously attempting to save face. At no point till now did you even point out that we had apparently mistaken your supposed joke for something serious which leads me to believe that it was not a joke.

That's not what I was getting at. The point is that the Ukrainian has a more complex understanding of what Stalin really did, whereas a Briton might not be able to see beyond the lolcommunism appeal. OK, I should have used the example of Che Guevara, since not many people outside of nostalgics from the former USSR idolize Stalin. People don't worship the historical Che, they worship the vaguest idea of what he did, the idealized folk hero, but not the historical figure, because simply put they know nothing about it. But a Spaniard worshipping Franco is different, because he should know better.

The Briton is probably worse. For example I find more fault in a Westerner who says that Kim Jong Il was a great proponent of democracy and social justice, than I do in a North Korean who is crying over his death.

Guys, I picked a Ukrainian instead of a Russian because I assumed the Ukrainians, as a general rule, would have no love for Stalin. I wasn't implying the Ukrainian in my example would be brainwashed into worshipping him :p

Well right next door, about 10 years ago the portugese people named Franco's ally - Salazar, the greatest Portugese person of all time, so assuming Spain isn't to dissimilar, maybe there are sections of the populations which are brought up to see Franco as a good guy.

I can honestly say it was said in jest and I don't feel I have to save face. You can stand by your misconception.

You would seem to be right. After all, in the Ukraine there is a whole net subculture designed at poking fun at the country's former Russification by acting as Russian Ukrainians upset at "Ukrainian imperialism":

That is his usual method. When he sticks his foot into it, he then pretends it was a joke.

If doughnuts like you were to take onboard what is abundantly apparent the first time round I wouldn't have had to repeat myself

When rational people read the delusions of cranks, their first thought is to think it must be satire. Repetition lets the rest of us know that the fool is really a fool and not someone playing a joke.

I'll wait for cranky to ask to compare penis sizes. Oops, it looks like he has already done that today.

To Angliru; obviously I make a generalisation - I'm sure not all Americans are Tyler Farrar fans. However a rather large percentage of Cav's knockers (his detractors!) seem to be American, that's a fact.

So it wasn't meant as a joke apparently but a generalization. I asked this question before but how can you know other than if it's plainly indicated as in my posts (I indicate that I'm from Michigan), if someone is American or not, with this being an English language site/forum?

So it cannot be both then.

But actually as it goes it's probably not a million miles from the truth;)

Don't confuse him with reason. He will puff his chest out and start ranting about what a great Strava racer he is. Next up, he'll tell us how he beat some schmuck commuter on a bike path.

That his fevered brain can come up with a line of BS like support of Farrar leads Americans to hate on Chav is a clear sign that he has lost touch with reality--if he was ever connected in the first place. Is there a single Farrar fanboy on this whole site? Farrar is not the kind of rider that elicits more than a "meh" from anyone.

Hey Brodeal, its Bond Villain here, I couldn't care less if you think it's a joke or not.

Hey and re penis sizes, it was you who thought you were some kind of hero because you'd swung your leg over a bike for three hours!

And regarding the multiple postsI thought you were refering to similar posts, was not ware the same post came up three times - only noticed just now and it was some kind of glitch, not spam.

There's no end in sight to your nonsense is there?

Funny you using the word truth in a post since I just caught you in a lie. You insult many that disagree with you inferring that they're idiots among other things and to compound things you've shown yourself to lack credibility. I'm certain Cavendish is quite lucky to have such faithful supporter as yourself.

Got to pull you up on this one Brodeal; it was you who threw down the gauntlet on the bike riding because you seem to think you can remotely assess what someone is doing with their Saturday morning. Now that's the sign of a crank. I could have been texting from the comfort of my training rollers.

You are just not capable of understanding any humour are you? I want to say that makes you a typical American but I don't want to offend your sensibilities.

It's Armstrong-itis. Frauds attract fans with low morals. Jerks attract fans who are jerks.

It's funny how cranks have no memory. They repeatedly challenge people to a penis measuring contest, and when it is thrown back in their face, they blame someone else for "throwing down the gauntlet."

Shouldn't you be using your time to write loony letters to race organizers so you can take credit for any changes made?

You can't seem to make up your mind as to whether it was humor or a generalization. Are you having difficulty keeping up with your lies? As far as my being the typical American unable to understand any humor, well maybe, just maybe you're just not very good at this comedy thing and need to leave it to the professionals. Quite like what you should do with this particular TdS incident: Accept the race officials decision and move on.
