I know. Hence my last statement.
Australians often like to think that other nationalities would dope and cheat.
It's interesting that maybe they will start to think now.
It doesn't start and stop with cycling.

yeah. we were on the same board. I should have been less ambiguous.

swimming is the big one.

and on a sports show, Gainsford-Taylor (100 metre and 200 metre Olympic athlete, think she finalled in the 200) and Grant Hackett talked doping in cycling. but both of them were up to it too, just not caught! And Cathy Freeman too.

It is hard for me to get worked up about White. He was a minor rider who never made it to the big game. His chief value now is race tactics.

He seems like an easy target so Rogers can be ignored.

Yep.....All about White, Rogers gets brushed under the carpet....

Any word from Aussie hero Cadel?

Surely he's standing up for clean cycling?

There seems to have been total silence on the whole LA/GH matter from BMC as well as all of its riders, the latter no doubt under orders to shut up or else. BMC are thinking how to word their statement about Hincapie no doubt. I wonder what will happen with the GH Grand Fondo in the next couple of weeks, said to be his final ride, with Evans supposedly joining in.

I am disgusted with Matt White, the coward. Sitting there pretending to be clean, running a team, talking to the press, just disgraceful cowardly behavior.

This dirty rotten drug cheat has brought great shame upon Australian Cycling. I hope he is ostracised from the sport. I wouldnt spit on him if he was on fire, the dirty rotten stinking drug cheat.

again the horsecrap about the new clean era, ffs.

on the other hand, i think it's an excellent gesture of White to stand down.
that's really the only integer decision he could make, something that lots of others in the game could and should take as an example.
The game would have been a lot less dirty if others would have taken responsibility for their deeds and step down.
So chapeau to White for giving the correct example.

but cut the crap on the new clean superstars already.

+1.
At least white was man enough to stand up when confronted with the evidence - as many cyclist are now....except lance.
Says something about armstrong's character compared to that of others in the peloton.

I remember seeing White as Junior in Centennial Park, Sydney, back in the early 90's, warming up for a Junior RR there, each time he crossed the finish line he practiced a winners salute (which he did not get to do in the actual race itself!!!), and thought then "What a bighead".

Very fond of the white lady also. Sniff sniff.

The Sky carpet that is - must have a big bulge in it now.

I am sure it does....I do not know why the media are not questioning how Rogers only got a "training program"??? Apparently you only get dope with that training program if you are not Australian.... And you are clean cause you ride with Sky....Give me a break....

I must admit to being disgusted too. Although if what he says about greenedge being clean is true, I have no problem with a reformed white having something to do with the running of the team, as neil stephens now does.

And yes he brings shame on australia - but i suspect before this is over there will be a few more australian cyclist brought down too. You only have to look at neil stephens from way back and the teams stuey ogrady and michael rogers have been associated with over the years.

Unless you have your head bured firmly in the sand it is pretty hard to be surprised.

Almost everyone has been part of a team that was associated with doping, either in their time, or before, or after, or have ridden with others who have such an association. That doesn't leave many who haven't, and of course, all get tarred with the same sticky brush, clean or not.

White might just take a holiday (its now off season for most), and if he grovels enough, might just have a job next year. Seems there will be lots of non-riding job vacancies about too.

Stephens seems to have been forgiven long ago for his membership of the Festina team in 1997-1998.

The only thing that surprises me in all of this is that so much has come out at once - LA falls and takes a great chunk of cycling with him, that so many of the latter have fessed up is the surprise, and no doubt there will be more to come over the following weeks, probably from those with little to lose though I am afraid.

Really? So how do you feel about AIS / CA / ASADA that gave him a rubber stamp of approval to go and start a brand new team?

My acid resistant clothing is in place, feel free to tell us how you really feel :D

AIS, being Government funded, will probably wipe their hands of him now, CA likewise. ASADA didn't exist in White's time as a cyclist, so can probably sit on their hands and say nothing. Each will probably issue a statement, expressing their surprise, sadness, ending with a note that they dont want his input any more.

OGE, well, as I said above, after a holiday, he probably has a job with them still.

I think its funny how everyone is attacking the individual cyclists and even teams, cyclings culture has been allowed to be from the top. All the focus is still on the past, there is nothing to gain from this, what about now? Useless blood passport and UCI practically still just putting limits on doping not stopping it.
Everyone knows epo use was allowed and controlled by the UCI setting limits, same thing is still happening.
From its very beginning cyclists have always done everything they can to win the tour and that will never change.

Lots of people are pretty upset - i feel fine about people venting. Better out than in I say.

This is arguably the biggest sporting fraud in history!

Had a few rants myself when i first started to post out of sheer frustration. Driven to it -

(after lurking here for a few years getting my doping education care of the clinic 12)

- all directed at the unbelievably poor standard of Australian cycling journalism. We are talking Zero cojones - now slightly redeemed (we need more digging) Rupert - and it felt GOOD to say it somewhere. So go for it I say - people are disappointed, let down they need to froth for a while.

Libel laws are somewhat tighter in AUS, no doubt may Journalists write more, but it gets edited from above through fear of hearing from Legal people after it goes to print. Most journalists only get to publish via their employer, and are thus bound by that. Some are freelancers, but dont dare upset those who might be paying for their writings. Some write a book or two (Rupert has), but its a long timespan from start to publish, by which time its no longer news.

Maybe somebody can feed Kate Lunby (Australian Minister for Sport) and entice her to get up in Parliament (under privilege) and dump the whole lot. Wont happen though, no votes in that.

"Discussions about a doping amnesty are set to intensify as Cycling Australia seeks to discover whether confessions from leading Australian cycling figure Matt White are just the tip of the iceberg.
Cycling Australia chief Klaus Mueller revealed today that the governing body would probably delay a decision on White's future until next month, as the fallout continues from White's confession and his decision to stand down as a national official and director of Australia's GreenEDGE cycling team.

In the interim, CA will meet with government officials and the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) to investigate the prospect of a doping amnesty, which would attempt to expose whether there are any more dirty secrets yet to be unearthed in Australian cycling."

mueller wants white in jail right?

Nah let's just wait a month and see if anything else *cough* crops up. And establish the facts as they pertain to the case, and once we have established those facts, we can act appropriately.

What's happening in a month?
