Maserati didn't have to tell people challenging him to "fook off." Surprised that the ban wasn't for that. Until that point he was just being his normal self, and not being particularly offensive.

But why ban Maserati for a thread that has was pretty well mined out (at least for the time being)? His provocation was the only thing keeping the zombie alive.

We are lucky the mods missed his "**** off", he might have gotten banned for a year then.

Its a good sign of a badly run forum when the mods hand out ridiculous bans to people that dont listen to them, and generally over moderate everything.

I would contend that there is a large difference between 'humour' and 'responding smugly and sarcastically to a serious complaint'. I don't see anything wrong with mods being humourous, provided it isn't about something they should respond seriously to (like, say, a comment directed at the serious position of power they've been put in).
I daresay I responded seriously to the serious part of the complaint, that is, I highlighted the fact that the ban was delivered because he ignored our warnings.
The last part of the complaint, instead, was quite ridiculous, and I responded accordingly. If we want all the good high volume posters to leave the forum we can simply permaban them. Hence it should be clear to anyone that we don't want it.
Is this serious enough?

Maserati is annoying and vortexes every thread which involves Jonathan Vague, Garmin, Hesjedal or fill in anything involving Garmin.

He deserves a months rest, he must be tired after last week.

He is funny by the way.

Just annoying.

Sometimes.

Nah, most of the time.

Cheers though,

Nope, got to disagree. He is just not as cynical as what has become the "style" in the clinic, that's all. I don't always agree with what he says but he has a right to post everything he has posted. That he has gotten a one month ban for it speaks more to the current horrible level of moderating on this forum than it does to the quality of his posts.

Sorry. I see my cynical 'month rest' was not picked up as it should be, my bad.

I dont believe in bans.

I hope this is everything that Hugh wrote and not another case of a mod changing what is in the bona fide spirit of an acceptable post. If so, I agree with Hugh.

Please be a better moderator by not doing the highlighted again.

I used to pick on the moderators all the time but a while back I decided to stop when I realized how ridiculous it looks. They're people just like everyone else and they're doing the best they can.

I think almost everyone agrees that banning people for months for doing almost nothing is stupid and pointless. Yet they keep doing it and just ignore what the posters say.

A good sign they arent suited to being mods.

Well then this isn't the thread for you ;)

No they don't. Not all of them for sure. That's plain to see for everyone with two working eyes.

Well then why don't you become a mod

You of all people should know that it's not quite that simple. :p Also, no one is hiring and even if they were, they wouldn't "hire" people who are hyper critical of the current "administration."

Plus, it's not a logical argument. "They're just people, and they're doing the best they can," isn't an argument either. Not everyone has the same skill set. Say, if you don't have the skills to do X, it doesn't mean that you can't spot the lack of talent in others.

P.S. authority figures who are receptive to *** kissing are incompetent. It looks to me like you're assuming that they are. If I were them I'd be offended. ;)

Well I'm not the spitting image of the average poster on here

There can't be too many mods I reckon so if someone offers to serve as a mod I don't think he'd get rejected immediately.

It's not an argument, I'm trying to make people use their brain for once. Could you do a better job? Do you know someone who could do a better job?
Yes, send a PM to the moderation team.
No, stop complaining

No *** kissing at all. Just reading all the posts attacking the mods (and especially Dr Maserati's endless debates) makes me cringe. It looks pathetic really. Not cool to know I used to be like that
