the simple reason being i really, really don't know what it means. i speak and think in many languages. it's a shear mess to sort out the meaning of the meaningless word. if the word 'sociopath' was heard from the little voices in someone's own head, there's little i could do about it.
i did, however post my unvarnished opinions on the disingenuous substance of certain posters. that i will own and don't intend blaming the mods for my own overreactions...the main point here is that i deprecate being trolled. if i have to, i will elaborate, but will avoid the details to heed the dan request to stay on-topic.

@python, I didn't take it as an insult then or now as intended by that poster. My post above was flippant as was the original a few years ago.
The term is mush in a broad sense because it's been studied by "experts" working with a narrow control sample and deterministic ends; then extrapolated to common culture at large where it can mean anything that exceeds, rejects or contravenes normative values and habits across any range of activities and anodyne value sets. I'd be more expansive, but it's not really on thread topic and the gist was covered above, I believe.
It's often an out for people who feel uncomfortable. Possibly challenged. If thrown out in those circumstances, usually an overly dramatic exaggeration.

I didn't notice it back when he created it, but since he's been so active with it lately I noticed it. And dealt with it the same way any sockpuppet gets dealt with.
Time does not heal all with sockpuppets, if someone decides to make one and we find out even a year or two later the person will be permabanned.

Besides; if "time healed all" when it comes to sockpuppets couldn't someone technically create a secondary account - or multiple secondary accounts - as (a) backup(s) and leave them dormant for a period of time in order to use them as "backups" if the primary account gets banned?

quoting it here not so much b/c i appreciate the fact of the ban, but b/c of sweat irony that still has me chuckling
very briefly... i will omit the names and the political details to keep the off-topic to the minimum.
i reported a post by djp where he in a clear as day manner baited and flamed me with an uncomplicated off-topic deflection. the irony was obvious b/c it was a double... 1st, just several posts back he bullied another poster (a new member) with the string of accusations (taking several pages, mind you!) of deflecting, obfuscating and what not. the djp reason for the accusations was that the new poster 'blindly' believed in something. the new poster protested, pointing to an apparent misreading, even a misrepresentation of what he wrote. i, as well as anyone, could see it. i even quoted both verbatim the new member's questions, as opposed to what djp called a 'blind belief'. the case of intentional misreading and spiraling out of control got me concerned. but djp only got more accusatory.
the 2nd irony was that when i pointed out the inconsistency, the reply was essentially to ridicule me b/c... i was recently on a 'vacation' . i sure was (anyone can find the related posts here) and i ate my own plate w/o blaming anyone for cooking it. but to use the fact to seek a higher moral ground in a situation where a simple reflection could help felt funny and weird.
i promise to never fall that low when djp comes back.
i sincerely hope it is soon !

I just did not get why the seemingly aggressive posts towards the person who had just started posting in the politics thread. I could not understand it. I even tried to mention that I did not see the reason for it.
From what I can tell someone has been reporting folks for name calling. Quite a bit actually. I don't really agree with reporting all the time. Sometimes it is necessary.
There is a good deal of give and take in those threads and I really think it should stay that way. For the past year or so things seemed to have fired up due to the atmosphere we all share.
I don't care for it when people get banninated. In this case I feel the same, I don't like it when there is a bannianated member. Even I disagree with near about everything they posted. Also I sorta understand python's feelings on this because he had just rejoined the conversation only to find himself on the receiving end of some fairly abusive posts.
Yesterday I might have missed some posts because I was a bit out of it due to Steve Tilford being killed. It seems lately that life has produced some rather large mountains to climb.

This feels a little distasteful to me, a mountain out of a mole-hill IMO. I don't like drama, whether online or in 'real' life, so I'll try not to create or add to any here - I'll just say if my own interaction with DJ is largely or solely to do with DJ's banishing, then I disagree with it; our interaction was a non-event, a bit of verbal jousting only, and words like bullying in reference to it really are hyperbolic in the extreme (from my perspective).
Drama triangle theory comes to mind here. The dynamics go on within online forums as well as real life.
If discussion is wanted I'll expand, but I'm conscious of the reality of how trivial all of this is...it's just an online forum after all, and it's just a one week ban.

Djpbaltimore was banned for baiting and flaming another member of the forum, not for his interaction with you. The two of those members have a long and stormy history towards each other that doesn't have anything to do with you.Dan2016 said:

a quick review/reading of the irondan explanation post and my explanation of what happened should make it very clear you were NOT the reason for the banning. again, briefly, i reported the flaming/bait of my posts and the mod investigation merited my report (which incidentally was a mere duplicate of someone's else report of the same post. i dont know who). your posts i brought forward as no more than a context to my explanation. why ? b/c it was a mirror image of my interactions (and several others) with djp. very-very briefly (i can follow up with more details) - b/c as in your case, he adamantly insisted on me saying something i never did nor meant. the trick of the flaming technique is that you/i/anyone can be blamed endlessly of any sin under the scenario. a classic baiting. in your case it was the accusations of deflection and obfuscation. good you took it graciously. not everyone is.

i completely respect your opinion (though, you did ridicule him 2-3 times with "what you are smoking [DJP] upon the repeated accusations). my point here is NOT your generous position on your interaction with the banned member. the point is that the djp flaming posting that evening had caused several (at least 5 to be factual) posters concerns. including the managing mod irondan. as i mentioned earler, at least 1 more poster reported, another pm'ed me. others spoke up here.
