saw your post yesterday. respect your position indeed as a 'moderator dream' :) yet (though hesitantly) just decided to add some clarifications that your last post imo was asking for. again, out of my respect for the irondan request to stay on-topic, i will stay away from the specific names and the political details. but since you decided to enter this conversation, you are fair game :)

1st and foremost, respectfully, where did you see the basis for the following:
I'll just say if my own interaction with DJ is largely or solely to do with DJ's banishing
a quick review/reading of the irondan explanation post and my explanation of what happened should make it very clear you were NOT the reason for the banning. again, briefly, i reported the flaming/bait of my posts and the mod investigation merited my report (which incidentally was a mere duplicate of someone's else report of the same post. i dont know who). your posts i brought forward as no more than a context to my explanation. why ? b/c it was a mirror image of my interactions (and several others) with djp. very-very briefly (i can follow up with more details) - b/c as in your case, he adamantly insisted on me saying something i never did nor meant. the trick of the flaming technique is that you/i/anyone can be blamed endlessly of any sin under the scenario. a classic baiting. in your case it was the accusations of deflection and obfuscation. good you took it graciously. not everyone is.

since the forum posting is a form of communication, putting words in someone' mouth aint cool nor helpful..which bring me to my 2nd point.

I wasn't bothered in the least by DJ
i completely respect your opinion (though, you did ridicule him 2-3 times with "what you are smoking [DJP] upon the repeated accusations). my point here is NOT your generous position on your interaction with the banned member. the point is that the djp flaming posting that evening had caused several (at least 5 to be factual) posters concerns. including the managing mod irondan. as i mentioned earler, at least 1 more poster reported, another pm'ed me. others spoke up here.

again, willbe glad to detail some of the stuff if your are interested in a pm. cheers.

Hi Python, how you doing.

I got the wrong end of the stick, nothing more than that. I saw my interaction with DJ mentioned and wondered if that was part of the reason for the banishing. There are obviously some tensions around this particular situation, so from my perspective it would be good to nip it in the bud here. Hope that's okay. I'll be in touch by pm, just wanted to keep it short here as I'd like to extricate myself from this.

Cheers. :)

So Sniper chose not to come back to the forum after his ban was up? That's a pity, because he had some good stuff in the Clinic.

I wonder how many users decide not post anymore after their bans end, irrespective of the length of the ban. I've noticed a few others have done the same. Oh well.

I haven't seen The Hitch for a while also (though he wasn't banned, so it's a different deal).

I guess all the scientific uproar brought us the mods answer for schroedinger

:D .....well, eh, it was on the ragged edge of absurd weren't it ....and this despite our heroic efforts to bring some measure of reasonablosity to the discussion.....so does this mean the US Politics thread is dead....or are we in some sort of quantum double secret probation state where nobody rightly knows what the **** is going on....

Cheers

I thought the discussion was fine. Overdetermined on one side, but healthy for that. If anything other than increased traffic brought you there, I don't really understand why. As to volunteering, my time fluctuates and it's dubious that I'd be a good mod.

I don't know all of what brought the cat down, but I appreciated him in himself and as an interlocutor and am saying so.

So Ryo, who rarely contributed anything of interest, gets 22 strikes before he is permabanned while Blackcat gets little over half that?

How does someone circumvent the swear filter, is it as simple as writing *** instead of the real word? Just intrigued that's all ...

Or were his actions more sinister / convoluted than that?

The weird thing is that all of ***, ho, ***, ***, pikey, whore and crap are all fine, but both @$$ and $h!t are normally censored...

Mong, *** and *** are allowed as well

Basically offensive slurs by and large are allowed but swear words aren't.

Bring back alliterationz cat. Proper good poster innit. A good egg. Very welcoming too.

Was it just the F word that did it? If so, are mods interested in hearing defense counsel, or are minds made up?
