Hopefully Sagan has the dignity to throw the shirt in the bin and refuse to wear it next season. This awful race and awful WC deserves nothing better.

This was much better than Copenhagen.

Best rider of his generation, a near-legend. I'm confident that by the end of his career I'l be able to say he was the best cyclist ever.
Causally forget about Merckx, de Vlaeminck, Coppi, Kelly...

What makes you think I forgot about any of them? I carefully chose my words there.

I will never support any Belgian rider again.

I am very grateful to the universe for Peter Sagan

Lol wtf. They made the race but whatever
They had 6 guys in the final group, and still didn't ride to win. If that's not pathetic, then what is?
Of course they rode to win. If you finish third you can also win.
Biggest mistake was not saving Naessen for later - he looked very strong.

You could say it was a mediocre race for them.
They did everything perfectly in the first half but what they did on the last laps was Omloop 2015 level.

Well, no tactic is perfect when you don't win, but I don't think they did so bad. Greg didn't have good legs and that was a big blow.

I'd agree with you if Cav had done it in 2011, and I'd argue that'd be more justified then.
At least Denmark have some kind of cycling heritage - both racing and in every day life. If you're going to have a world championships in a flat country - have it somewhere where the people are interested in it.

This WC jersey should just replace the rainbow stripes with dollar signs - because it's as far removed from what the WC should be about as is possible imo.

When's the last time Sagan wore a regular team jersey during a normal road race? (non-TT).

Tour de Suisse 2011 when he won a mountain stage in a sprint against Cunego.

LS WHERE ARE YOU???? WHY DO YOU HATE SAGAN?

:p
I think he's still asking the heavens why they gave such talent to such a person he dislikes.

Because Sagan will not win 11 Grand Tours, 19 monuments and 4 WCs in his career. Probably the last one actually. But he needs another eighteen monuments in ten years to match Merckx.

monumental **** up from Van Avermaet

Not in the league of Cav's. Blythe pulled out at the right time, Cav did not follow him and got boxed in. He could have won that.

Sagan was strong as ever and timed it right.

Belgium did really well to get some many men in the front group, but with Cav and Sagan there, they should have tried something (maybe they just didn't have the legs).

Deserved win i guess. But really the main enjoyment is that cav did not win due to his own mistake. Should have held Blythe's Wheel

The finale could have been much better. Kudos to leezer for the brave attack tho.

Different eras tho. Some relativity applies, you can't only take stats into account.

Excellent Sagan, awesome as always. Happy to be able to see such a champion ride. A real delight.

Also, very happy to see old man Boonen in third place.
In your face Lefevre.
A great podium.

Let's not forget Sagan has only won one monument in his whole career and obviously has never come anywhere near winning a GT. He's a superb rider, but any talk of greatest of all time is ridiculously premature.

Classy act by Boonen in thi finish. Great sportsman

He really likes Sagan, last year he was the first to congratulate Peter too. Some people suggested Sagan was not very popular among his peers though.

Am I missing something? Sagan looked faster than Cav.

Think it would have been close had Cav not got blocked by Matthews. Sagan deserved the win though, he chose the right line and was very fast.
