It was a shame how after his fabulous 2017 season that he 'only' had stage race success in 2018. He looked good in 2019 as well.

Let's say that Amstel, GW, Strade and Flèche Wallonne are the four biggest annual one-day races below the five monuments and the WCRedRick and that those ten one-day races constitute the 20 biggest races of the year with the Grand Tours and the seven big one-week races (PN, TA, Catalonia, Itzulia, Romandie, Dauphiné and Suisse).
Then there are just three other riders who have won at least one of these races both before (and including) 2017 and after (and including) 2020. Who?

Great win today, special stage to do so as well. Am enjoying seeing him with (apparently) a bit more freedom after those years yoked in the FroomeTrain.

This was the perfect stage for a rider like him and he took the chance brilliantly. These kind of stages, where it's flat most of the way until a really hard climb at the end suit climbers with a rouleur ability much better than pure climbers and it showed.
The lack of a TdF stage win was a really weird blank spot on his palmares for a long time. Now he even has two. Really happy for him.

Great for him that he got the win and is expanding his trophy case. He showed he was in great form following Vinge and Pog for a little. Hopefully he can get some more wins.
