This is the third straight GT that MAL abandons. I am starting to think that 2018 was his peak year.
This is an abandon on the fourth day of a race before a mountain stage was even raced. There is no relevance as to what you might try to imply. None. In 2020 he crashed on day 1. At the Tour he crashed twice. So if anything he might have some technical issues riding the bike. If we want to debate something.

If anything we can actually start conspiracy theories about he is having issues with consequences from past crashes. If not treated properly he might have even bigger issues to handle. We could not even see how his form was going to be.

Depends on when it was reinjuried or aggravated but he looked fine in Tour of Alps and Feb stage race. It’s not like he has been bad this year.

That is correct. But this one happened before any action even took any place. So the probability is that there is an injury. Same thing with the one at the Giro in 2020. At the Tour 2021 he was past the hardest mountain stages when Movistar decided to rightly pulled him out because he needed to prepare for the Vuelta. According to their communications he was riding injured which was baffling. But he could have finished the Tour no problem at that point.

He will join the ranks of promising riders that never won a grand tour and that group is a pretty big and talented one. I don't see much progression with his career bad luck or not. He was more dangerous as a young rider it seems. He reminds me of a less talented version of Quintana.. Quintana peaked in 2015/2016 then steadily got worse after looking like he would challenge Froome. He's a top 5 rider now if he can stay upright sort of like Pinot.

Now, neither the Spanish Police nor the UCI have found anything to make them prolong López’s suspension and so the rider can return to competition.
It was a suspension imposed by the team, not by the UCI or the police, but maybe it's just a poorly written sentence.

“Miguel Ángel López is thus provisionally reintegrated as part of Astana Qazaqstan Team and will return to the previously agreed racing plan (Vuelta a Burgos and then Vuelta a España),” the statement continued.
'Provisionally' makes it sound like they are not entirely convinced of his innocence

About time he was back in action, sitting at home watching lesser riders on tv is not for Supermán.
