No, Landa should go to the Tour.

And repeat the Aru Giro job with Froome. Could be fun.

Peak Landa may be a better climber than Contador, but better even than Froome? I doubt it

But it's an intriguing scenario.

In the case Landa go to le Tour.. I would prefer Dauophine os Swiss, and rest, and in the case he climb better than Froome, there i a difference with Aru. Froome can win the race, Aru had 0 options...Just if Quintana is much better than Froome (or Contador) and they are above in GC, and Landa is the best climber, (what we saw in last Giro) I will understand to change things...

Landa is a rider with fraguile health, as many riders,...but when his body is perfect, he fly.

I think Landa is a better climber than Froome, but in le Tour is not just that... in the first mountain stages of le Tour, Froome would be clearly stronger today... In the future we will see, Landa is a young rider and he must improve and get experience...

Very sad day for us his supporters and for the race.

This makes the Giro much less interesting and I hate to say that I am very disappointed with him: this looks like medical stuff 100%.

Based on what exactly?

Based on the way he explodes after a rest day. Man, I am a big Landa fan, but this is so obvious it's just sad.

P.D: Sorry for talking Clinic stuff.

If you're ill, you're ill. What has a rest day got to do with it?

It's as if this isn't a rider who hasn't missed large parts of the previous 2 seasons through illness and was already complaining of not feeling quite right in this Giro.

So... he was already feeling sick in the morning, but decided to start anyway.
When he was being interviewed by Danish television before the stage he didn't show any signs of feeling unwell.
So... did he 1) want to honour the by continue fighting for as long as he could, 2) not want the possibility of any rumours spreading, leading other teams to potentially attack him?
If so... pretty cool.

Seems like sky couldn't care less about the Giro. They basically leave their riders to fend for themselves. During the tour every sky rider is basically on the front (or just off it) all day every day regardless of the parcours... If the recent accusations coming out about British Cycling are anything to go by it seems that there's a mentality of focus on one thing and one thing only.. if you're not part of that 'focus' then you're a second class citizen.

Seems a mixture of both yes, the last thing you want when your not feeling well is letting other teams know, especially teams that are very strong like this Astana one.

The irony is that Landa has been waiting for these tougher mountain stages, yet he probably needed a couple of flat ones to maybe hide in the bunch and recover.

Is Landa overated? or still has a lot to learn? Its a tough one to judge. I am yet to see leadership qualities and I really think he is in the wrong team. Riders make decision based on big bucks first, guess one has to eat. But in terms of long term strategic goals, Sky was really the wrong place to go. Nibs made the wrong choice as well. Landa should have gone under the wings of an experience DS or GC guy or a team that cares about other GCs (giro or Vuelta), not send team B or C to these events.

I had a feeling Sky's goal was always for Landa to replace Porte as super domestique in TDF for Froome.

You can't say Sky didn't care about this Giro. Their original Giro team at the start of February was excellent and they even sent Roche and Nieve to the Giro instead of resting them for the Tour to make sure Landa had a decent team.

So Landa who got dropped the other day on a climb and was luck enough to get back on and then did well in a rain soaked TT and then he pulls out even though sky have their own chef and monitor all the food .
He/sky knew the other day when he got dropped that he was not going to win this race. He's been pulled so he can rest and be Froomes bit%h at the tour .
Taxus " Landa is a better climber than Froome" I am laughing so hard :D If he was better than Froome he would be riding the tour as the leader . Still laughing . Landa is just another LRP . Show me the GT win. You can't and you never will :D
