Maybe he can form a alliance with Nairo in trying to break Big Tom!
Hmm yeah, I dont know.. its pretty complicated, what do you do on Tuesday? I mean, there is a long and flat valley road where its probably hard for Landa to get away. He can wait for the bottom of Mortirolo, but from then on, Movistar should try to tire Dumoulin so it might be hard to get away there. He could just play the game of sitting long wheels the whole day and try to win mano-a-mano.
But Landa and Quintana can attack on the earlier slopes of Stelvio. Though i hope there will already be fireworks on Mortirolo, i don't expect it to happen actually. But on Mortirolo Sky can send up some strong domestiques up the road, for example Henao, Rosa and Kyrienka. Movistar the same with Izagirre or De La Parte. If they can get a gap of + 2/3 minutes before Landa/Quintana reach the bottom of Stelvio, those domestiques can guide the two leaders through the long flat valley between Stelvio and Umbrailpass. If Landa and Quintana are able to drop Dumoulin on Stelvio ofc.
Then they can be compatriots on the final climb.
However, the fact there's a descent at the end might spoil things. Although i don't think there's much difference between Quintana and Landa descending-wise. So i think an alliance would be ideal in the Monte Grappa stage, but not so much in tomorrow's stage. I agree with you Landa will likely opt for a defensive approach tomorrowL just follow the best guys in the race and trying to sneek away in the end.
But let's wait till tomorrow. Can't wait!
