Sagan again did everything wrong. Attack or wait. You can't wait on the poggio and then be the one who chases on the descent. You can't win like that.
may be he just didn't have the legs
;)
Then don't chase on the flat. Hope Quickstep or some other team takes it up and you can contest the sprint. Chasing on the flat was a horrible thing to do tactically in that situation, with so many other sprinters still around.

This finale shows why the parcours of this race shouldn't be altered. A monument where you don't know until the last second whether a multi-GT winner or a prolific sprinter is going to win - that's priceless. MSR always delivers. I love this race. :)

Fully agree! MSR is probably my favourite race, even though nothing really happens until the end..And Nibali is probably my favourite rider, every year l've been hoping he could win, in precisesely this manner!

Some of yall so fixated at Sagan not winning more than anything else. Yall are lame.
I suppose everyone should be used to it by now, given his record of just 1 win in 23 attempts at monuments.

Nibali, by contrast has won 3 of the last 5 monuments he's participated in. :surprised: He's probably actually better at classics these days than GTs.

No reason to just hate blatantly like a few does. Sagan has made half of those races great to watch and been close to win a few times now. Hopefully he will get to add a few wins to the list of the big races.

Btw really impressed by Caleb Ewan, I didn't think he could be a contender for such a race, I clearly underestimated him.

I wish we'd get back to when riders would attack on the Cipressa even if futile.

While I am glad a sprinter didn't win it felt a bit of a dud edition to me. Everyone seems to think it was really great though so I'm a little confused.

Remember Vicenzo wants to take
his rainbow stripe this year

He and Valverde are by far the biggest favorites for the rainbow jersey this year.

What's the last time a rider won consecutive monuments excluding cobbled doubles?

That's a good question. I think we need to go back to the eighties! XD It's very difficult to find a rider who can win Lombardia and then Sanremo. Liegi-Lombardia slightly easier but still, no one comes to my mind.

Did Trentin cost Ewan the win?
Yes, and lets all thank him for that.
Caleb didn't complain at all
in the interview
I like young Caleb

That was a very impressive sprint, he will win this race sooner or later
But what a win by Vincenzo
Yep, he's going to be winning sprints for a long time.
