I don't know if it's been mentioned in the twenty pages or not, but the La Gazzetta dello Sport website will be streaming the race for the first time, and as far as I can tell, the feed starts an hour before Eurosport and two hours before Universal Sports. 13:00 CET

Which means you were always gonna go for Cav?

Yes. A few weeks ago, regardless of how much he raced, Cav was the man. I saw him in Tirreno and decided that it was a wrong move. I then went to Bennati and then I thought, nah, regardless if he's peaking for July, if he does have the legs he has a good chance of winning here.

What also came to my mind was Cav did Tirreno never to compete in any of the sprints. The early stages were too hard so he just sat at the back to get mileage in his legs. He wanted to contest the last stage, but got a bike problem.

Last week was never about winning for him. I think he and Columbia are doing a bluffing game.

Has anyone mentioned Ignatiev as an outsider?? I was really impressed with his stage win in Tirreno Adriatico. Although it was only half the distance of MSR still a gutsy ride and looks in some form. If a break goes and he's in it, throw some bad weather in the mix and maybe.

Argh, Matt Rendell's voice is so annoying. It sounds like he's talking to young children/trying to hypnotise you..

I personally don't think EBH is ready for a classic like MSR. It's a bit too tough and hard for him. Matt Rendall is the worst most boring commentator on the planet!

Armstrong's got a bout of Simeoni's revenge.:D

Nice. But I checked his twitter for the first time in ages, and sixteen hours ago he was "home" having dinner with his baby mama and all four kids. That doesn't sound like a severe gastroenteritis type activity. Then he was planning to go on the radio show with that evil ESPN guy. So on what continent is he, and when did he really decide against Milan Sanremo?

if im not mistaken, this is the first time we hear texas being sick and pulling out.

i believe, it was Betsy who noticed how he is always healthy and never seemingly subject to ailments other riders get from the environment, racing stress and exhaustion. like you im skeptical we're hearing the true story.

I have to back off a tiny bit as I checked more tweets and he said a few days ago his 3 original kids showed up wherever he was for spring break. But sixteen hours ago he was eating with family.

I'm going to forget the guy again until he finds an excuse to dodge Contador three more times. Everyone have a great weekend watching MSR. Don't forget the early video feed at La Gazzetta dello Sport.

I'm changing my Hope now from Freire to Beppu.

How amazing would it be for him to win? And imagine the surge of attention cycling might get in Japan if he does well. I was really excited when he rode Roubaix last year, and I'm equally excited now.

I really hope that, to improve cycling's global stature, he gets a good result or somehow animates the race. Go Beppu!

According to CN, he has "gastroenteritus" (sp?). I think, according to the photo accompanying the article, this is a disease that causes you to retain so much weight that finishing a 298 k race is out of the question.

I think the thought of racing nearly 300km at his current level of fitness literally made him $hit in his pants.

Either that, or he suddenly realized that a runny colon would guarantee that he'd finish last. I mean, who in the peloton would want to be downwind of Lance-with-shi*-in-his-pants? :p

Uhh what? Is rational head and Susan Westemeyer the same person?

Please don't tell me we are starting the drive by a$$holish modding on this forum as well. What I wrote was hardly out of line.
