somebody mentioned this in the Stage 1 thread and i agree wholeheartedly!

doping discussions belong in the Clinic and yet there are many that insist on calling Contador, Clenbutador (or whatever) to show how cool and in-the-know they are and it is annoying and tiresome... not only that, it is juvenile and ruins the enjoyment of being part of a race thread.

it is annoying and nasty enough to encounter in the Clinic (how many times must i see Pharmstrong?) but i groan and put up with it because people obviously think it makes them look cool to wear their hatred on their sleeve.

but the Professional road racing should have none of it.

imo, it makes this forum look classless and i don't think that's fair to you or a majority of people posting.

i almost feel like offering my services to clean up rude nicknames

if this was the wrong place to post this, my apologies.

That is just what we need, an overly sensitive ostrich to decide what nicknames are appropriate for other people to use.

Does the term HTFU mean anything to you?

yes, i even have it on a black wristband, thank you very much.

and i am hard enough as it is. i can duke it out with you in the Clinic (though, more often than not i agree with you -- just not quite with your intensity).

i know cycling and doping can not be separated, but whilst i'm watching a race i really do try to forget the nasty side of the sport. sue me, i'm still a fan. and i'd like to enjoy the race without all the bitterness.

people are allowed to like or dislike whatever riders they want and they can be as inane about as they want and for whatever reasons that make sense to them.

but i do happen to find it rude to have that hate shoved in my face on almost every post they make.

if your thinking is that of this forum, then i suppose for the duration of the TDF i will simply put those juvenile posters who insist on name-calling on my ignore list.

i doubt i'll miss much

I just think some folks like to let loose a little on here as a release from daily life ...I'm not sure everything has to be so 'proper' and dignified as long as folks don't get completely carried away and attack each other.

Whatever...it really isn't that big of a deal and it's not too hard to just ignore the nicks and just read the meat of the post...

we're here for fun..

This sounds very much like someone upset with unflattering nicknames for riders they like trying to use the doping angle to prevent disparagement of those riders. What is next? Will fans of Leipheimer, assuming he has any fans, complain about people calling him The Leech?

um, no.

it irritates me whether they're used about riders i do or do not like.

and there is a difference between calling AC Dertie and Leipheimer Leech. the latter is about Levi's style of riding, totally fair game, imo... though i can't recall ever seeing him called that, it's usually just Bottle.

whatever. i've had my say, i'll leave it be.

hope everyone has fun.

Will any action be taken against Bavarian riders trolling in the stage 1 thread.

While everyone was waiting to find out the decision, he came in and said without a source that the 3k rule was definately NOT in effect.

Bavarianrider said:
They neutralized it!!!!!!!! Everyone after Gilbert gets +6 seconds.
I think this sucks big time!

This was big news and gave hope to a lot of people.

He let this hang about for a good number of minutes before claiming he had "misunderstood"

Knowing this posters history it was blatant trolling designed to decieve people.

And even if it handt been, posting info like that without sources then turning out to be wrong is just not on.

It's pretty clear to me he posted that after checking half the GC and seeing everyone was at +6". Bavarianfanboy doesn't strike me as a troll, honestly.

i dunno but mods appear to be a bit picky during this time of the year. knowing el pickle as we know him he prolly insulted some1 from the july crowd. at least seeing him losing his head after reading some of the silliness being posted around wouldn't surprise me.

It would help to know what people got banned for so that we dont do it ourselves.

Pisti isnt one to insult people.

He talks absolute crap but at best hell just repeat the crap over and over again and taunt people that their riders arend doing good. I have half my posts in heated discussions with Pistrollero and he hasnt insulted me once.

I know he was but with 3 Gilbert finishes in that first week, im amazed he went:p

Making your second play for the mod position are we? I only mention doping if its in responce to another poster who has mentioned doping.

Anyone know what Pisti said by the way?

Ps Parrulo. Im getting significantly confused between you and LS due to your Avatar.

Just take a Samu one instead;)

tru dat for the first part.

nah not really i am very happy not being a mod atm, i like freedom to post some nasty stuff from time to time :p and i mentioned doping in response to some1 that said, and i quote " AC and AS came to this tour with less juice on their vains, thats why cadel is looking so strong and thats why he is going to win"

i thought that was so pathetic i couldn't hold myself ;_;

oh common hitch let me show my pride on rui's win for a bit longer

You just have to be very subtle. Plausible deniability is something you can definitely learn from pro cycling.

Be careful with that approach... the introduction of the posting passport has made the detection of microposting possible.
